Hello, USCIS requested for initial evidence of (I-485), of which I mailed it to them 2 months ago. Every time I check my status online, it still says they are waiting on my information before they make a decision on it.

 

Does it mean they've not received the mail I sent them or this is how it works?

01/16/2018 %%Received combo card%% (tracking shows USCIS sent it on Jan 11 from MO, then Jan 15 USPS closed for MLK day) 

01/20/2018 Received approval letters for EAD and AP

09/20/2018 Received text 'Interview was scheduled' and interview notice will be mailed

09/27/2018 Received Interview notice by mail

10/25/2018 Interview day

10/26/2018 I-485 case status updated to "We ordered your new card"

10/29/2018 Case Status updated to "We approved your Form I-485"

10/31/2018 Case Status updated to "We mailed your new card"

11/01/2018 My card was picked up by the USPS with tracking number assigned

11/05/2018 Green Card Received 

 

Side note: I turned my maiden name into second middle name. In the combo card, my given name is First Firstmiddleinitial, however on the back of the card, they attempted to list my second middle name.

I would call them, request to speak to a tier 2 office and verify it has been received.

 

The status doesn't always update online but it's better to be safe than sorry, because if something went wrong and for whatever reason USCIS did not receive your response they'll deny your application.

Online status is NOT a very reliable reflection of where your case stands. Example, mine still says,  "On September 19, 2017, we scheduled an interview for your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization..." while I am actually many statuses past "... we scheduled..."

 

Did you track your latest mailing to USCIS? If you did and the tracking shows it was delivered, no need to worry. Even if you did not track it, and it did not come back as undeliverable, then they got it and all you can do is sit still, frustrating as it is.

this isn't necessary true. My mother got a RFE back in October for her Medicals..we sent them back using certified SIGNATURE required and it was delivered and SINGED for on 10/25/17.. the date they gave us till was 12/10/17 so we sent it fairly fast... fastforward to the end of December my lawyer sends a inquiry to see what is going on ...and they reply back via email on 01/02/18 that THEY DID NOT RECEIVE ANYTHING.... WHAT?! thank fully my lawyer has proof that it was delivered ect so we sent a detailed letter explain how it was there mess up...and up till now...nothing has been heard back. Keep in mind her status still shows as "Case received on 09/23/16"... yes... its taking for ever...DEFF call or do a inquiry online to make sure they do have it.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
