Hi VJ people!

I am applying for K1 visa soon (My fiance is in America) and was wondering if anyone could share you recent experiences with me :), preferably if you come from South East Asia countries like me (I am Indonesian but I I grew up in Singapore, working here currently) :

- What kind of evidences did you give to proof your bona fide relationship? How much of evidences shall I give? (I have pictures, videos and letters from my fiance, are these enough)?

- What other documents must I produce in order to show that we are intending to marry each other besides a signed letter from both parties?

- How long did you take to get from NOA1 to NOA2?

- I saw some forum that some people had to give RFE even though they gave a lot of evidences, how much of evidence must I give?

- Will it help to speed up my process if I produce my document that I have a permanent residency in Singapore? (Singapore and US has good ties)

Thanks!

Thanks!

1) Provide photos, copy of ticket stubs that prove you guys were together at the same place and same time (stamped dates are great), passport stamps, letter of intent to marry, ring receipt (if you have it).

2) It took my fiance and me around 6 months but right now it could take up to 6-7 months for NOA 2. 1-2 months for NVC. And it varies per country to reach  embassy and schedule an interview.

3) As much as you can. People will even get RFE for things they've already sent in because USCIS can lose their things.

4) No. Wait time is same for everyone.

The whole process can take 8-12 months before the K1 visa is in hand at the current moment. Feel free to message me if you have any questions!

The process is the same for everyone until you get to the interview stage.  Feel free to ask away.  We are all dealing with USCIS with very little to no differences between the beneficiaries countries.  The first two steps (USCIS and NVC) are the same for everyone.  After that you can get embassy specific in the country's forum.

Yes, the Police Certificate is required for any country (there are exceptions like Indonesia) that the beneficiary lived in for more than 6 months after the age of 16.

I  believe that Indonesia is an exception and no police certificate is required for them.  If you lived in other places they may be required.

Proof is almost the same for every country I think. I applied for my k1 in Singapore but I am a filipino. The Singapore US embassy is strict when it comes to requirements but they are accomodating when it comes to inquiries through email.

1. Proof of bonafide relationship

- pictures from meeting until present (at least 10 pictures with dates and description)

- proof of conversations (screenshots of recent messages) & video chats (screenshot of call history)

- proof of traveling to visit each other or traveling together (boarding passes, itinerary, accomodation etc.)

- letters to each other, gifts

- documentation of engagement (pictures, rings) that is if you have. We didn't and it was no issue.

- letter of intent to marry from both people (with signature)

- attachment letter explaining how you met (if on a dating website, a print out terms and conditions and saying that they are not an international marriage brokering service--IMBRA)

2. we filed November 2016 and received our approval february 2017

3. I had an s-pass when I filed my K1 visa. As long as you are a valid resident in Singapore, you can make the US embassy there your consulate. Being a permanent resident or a citizen of singapore will not speed up the process as far as i know. All applications are treated equally as long as all the requirements are complete.

Good luck and have fun on your k1 journey!
