Hi everyone please help me out with my issue, I was approved for permanent residence card and the card is undelivered since September 12 2017.

I know it is a lot of text but I would highly appreciate if you would have time to follow the timeline below. Any recommendations would help, it is a really painful process.

- 03/17/2017 I applied for i-485 adjustment of status (marriage based) at Chicago location.

- 08/17/2017 Approved for Permanent Green Card at Chicago Location (right after the interview). RECEIVED APPROVAL LETTER I-797 SHORTLY

- 08/22/2017 "We mailed your new card to the address you gave us."

- HERE THE SITUATION GETS WRONG - The lawyer that was filling out our application moved to another address  and he informed the USCIS about it but it seems like it was too late and USCIS sent the Green Card to his old address where it went undeliverable.

- 08/29/2017 "your request to have your Permanent Resident Card resent to you, referral number SRxxxxxxCHI, was assigned to an officer for response."

- 08/31/2017 "your request to have your Permanent Resident Card resent to you, referral number SRxxxxxxCHI, was completed." NEVER RECEIEVED ANY WRITTEN RESPONSE

09/12/2017 "the Post Office returned your new card for Receipt Number MSCxxxxxx, to us as undeliverable." that is on the main screen right now

- 09/13/2017 FIRST INFOPASS appointment - the person at the counter told me that I should reapply for the green card and pay the fee one more time - she was pretty rude and did not even opened my case - she just told me that she would change the lawyer right away if she would be in my shoes.

- 10/02/2017 "your request to change your address, referral number CAxxxxxxMSC, was assigned to an officer for response."

- 10/05/2017  "your request to change your address, referral number CAxxxxxxMSC, was completed."

- 10/19/2017 "your request to have your Permanent Resident Card resent to you, referral number SRxxxxxxCHI, was assigned to an officer for response." SECOND SERVICE REQUEST - DID NOT RECEIVED ANY RESPONSE.

- 11/14/2017 "your request to have your Permanent Resident Card resent to you, referral number T1DxxxxxxxCHI, was assigned to an officer for response." THIRD SERVICE REQUEST
- 11/17/2017  "your request to have your Permanent Resident Card resent to you, referral number T1DxxxxxxxCHI, was completed. - THIS IS THE LAST UPDATE ON USCIS WEBSITE RIGHT NOW.

They sent a letter, quoting "YOUR CARD WILL BE SENT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE" and nothing more! At this stage my lawyer tells me that there are too many service requests and that's why the process is messed up, so he told me that we should not get any more service requests for the next 60 days.

-12/28/2017 SECOND INFOPASS appointment where the representative had the opportunity to call the benefits center and they told him that they will send the card soon - Luckily he put a stamp in my passport which expires in 3 months that states that I am approved for Permanent Card and I am waiting to get it resent from benefits center.

Status at this moment:

The lawyer is not contacting me with any updates, 60 days passed since the last response from USCIS and I really don't know what to do next.

I read some threads and people are usually contacting the Congressman in this kind of situation or others fill in a Ombudsman request on USCIS, I am really worried about contacting USCIS one more time because I assume that it can slow down the process of sending the card back.

Please help me out, I really don't know what to do and living with this situation it really affects my day to day life.

In case you need any additional information please let me know.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND CONSIDERATION - ANY IDEAS OR RECOMMENDATIONS HELPS!

P.S. YES, I have my name on my mailbox.

Dear Va Dam

I had a similar situation. I came to US on Special Immigrant visa (already approved for green card). I move to new address before getting the green card. Although I changed the address online, it did not work. USCIS had my previous address on their filling,so the green card was returned to USCIS. On Sept. 15, 2017, I received a notice that the green card was returned to USCIS as undelirverable. I submitted another request for change of address again. I also requested for the green card to be resent (both requested were filled on Sept. 17).

My case was submitted to an officer for a response in less than 3 days, but then I got an email response that I should wait 90 days for the documents/green to be resent. I followed by calling USCIS from time to time, but just to find out that they cannot help unless 90 days are completed. On November 15 (two months later), I filled another Service Request and received the same reply that I have to wait 90 days from the date of submitting service request.

On December 20th, I guess, I called USCIS to tell them that I had already waited 90 days since the first service request (which was on Sep. 17), and asked them that if they could expedite it or help me. I was told that because my second service request was placed on Nov. 17, I have to wait another 3 months (until Feb. 17). This time I spoke to second tier officer who was more patient and helpful. She did confirm that USCIS have the green card

I did not contact USCIS after December 20th and decided to wait until Feb.17, 2018. My case was not update since Nov.17, 2017 (when I submitted second service request). I regularly checked my case status, but with no good news. I had also signed up for USPS informed delivery services to track my new mails.

While I was waiting for 3 months times, I got my green card on Feb. 8, 2018. I was completely shocked since I neither had any case update from USCIS nor an email from USPS about this mail. I couldn't believe that I had my green card arrived ! My case still not updated on USCIS website and it still shows that (card returned undeliverable).

I did not have any lawyer all through this process and I only relied on USCIS representatives help. If you haven't done already, I would suggest you call USCIS customer service representative and ask for second tier officer. In my case, the second tier officer was helpful and give more more information. She did confirm that USCIS have the green card and I do not need to file another application or pay new fees. She also confirmed my new address and contact information.

If your green card is returned to USCIS, I don't think you need for pay a fee. You may have to file an e-request only ( as I did). If it is lost in mail, than that is certainly a very different story. When submit an e-request, choose the option of "completed petition" not the one "in progress", because your petition is already completed.

I hope the information is helpful and hopefully you will get it soon and without further trouble.

Best of luck !

FYI: I did not have my name on the mail box at all !
