  If the president controls the economy, then why did Trump let things get so bad this year?

 

  And if the president doesn't have control the economy, why do we keep seeing posts in this thread giving accolades every time the stock market gets back to almost as high as it was in 2007?

 

  And whether we think the president has any influence over the economy or not, why do we think the Dow Jones index actually reflects anything about the current economy?

We can add the Bush Administration as well.  With SARS and MERS a broad spectrum coronavirus vaccine could have been developed in the last 18 years.

If Trump really wanted to trigger the warmongers and surveillance state loons he'd pardon Assange and Snowden. But then again, he's had the last 4 years, so won't get my hopes up.
