   Aren't most conservatives voting Republican nowadays or am I missing something here. I think you are getting uncharacteristically sensitive. If you could get past that,  you would realize that I basically reaffirmed what BR said. What party one affiliates themselves is not as important as their ideology. Racism is racism, regardless of how it presents. Whether one calls them self a Democrat or Republican. Whether one claims to be left or right. It is irrelevant, really. That ideology should not (and for the most part would not) be tolerated in the modern world. I was saying Byrd was certainly a Democrat then and may be a Republican (if he was just starting out) now, but ultimately it is his behavior that should define him, not his affiliation.

   You called the Democrats "my party", thus you labeled me a Democrat. It's not a red herring, I am telling you I don't have a political affiliation because I don't want you referring to any political party as "my party". I don't support any political party.

 

   As to Byrd, I pointed out his obituary called him a conservative, which might have made him a Republican if he was starting out today. I mean, I conceded he was a Democrat in the same post. I didn't say not to label him, what I said was, getting past that, the label of Democrat or Republican is not the issue. His ideology is indefensible regardless.

If I can't give rebuttal to correct a post that's falsely accusing me of something, how is it fair their post stay up?
