Probably due to the fact that the modern version of the KKK generally endorses the Republican party. I know your not American, Boiler, but you must have studied some civics. There is no reason you should not know that the Democratic and Republican platforms did switch between the end of the civil war and the start of the 20th century. You should save the KKK line for people who don't know any better. That group unfortunately includes many Americans who are ignorant of their own history.

So you are saying the Democrats have simply masked their suppression.

This poll is not at all surprising, since Rasmussen had black voter support for Trump polling at 40% prior to the 2018 midterms. The 40% figure did not correlate well with exit polls, which showed 8% of black voters cast their ballots for Republican candidates. The interesting thing is Rasmussen explains their discrepancy as being due to polling likely voters as opposed to other firms who just poll random adults. The election results did not bear that out. Seemed to be the exact opposite FWIW.

How do you explain the Emerson poll?

Well the KKK here peaked in the 1920s so a bit later and all good Dems.

The Democrat platform today is the Republican platform of the 19th century and vice versa. That's the middle school curriculum in most states, but maybe some are skipping it.

You asked why black people tend to vote Democrat. That is your answer. It's the same reason KKK members tend to vote Republican. In short, we are not living in the 19th century anymore. The Democrats were the party of the KKK. All that changed starting with the post civil war reconstruction and ending with the Dixiecrat's and the southern strategy. I realize your question was best left as a rhetorical device, but I answered anyway in case you actually needed to know.

How do you explain it? It certainly doesn't correlate with voter turnout. I will be generous and explain it as inaccurate although there could be other reasons.

There certainly have been some changes since 2018, but I don’t remember Emerson polling similarly back in 2018.  Regardless, Trump was not on the ballot in 2018, so the polls today really aren’t comparable to the voter turnout in 2018.

Didn’t Senate Democrats in 1964 filibuster the Civil Rights Acr?

True, and neither do they mean a whole lot at the moment either. Most significant will be how the polls turn out on election day. The rest don't really mean much.

Agreed,  but if the Dems are seeing similar numbers in their internal polling, they may be slightly worried.

Well 1964 was a long time ago. The southern strategy is generally attributed to the period between 1963 and 1972. Prior to that conservative voters tended to vote Democrat and after that they tended to favor Republican.

If their internal polls match Emerson or Rasmussen, they had better be worried. Even conservative commentators have been joking about this poll. One of them said the polling group was Ben Carson, Kanye West and that sheriff with the black hat.

Times change, white clothing has turned to black, the KKK is now Antifa, but the ethos remains. The KKK of the Civil War era would most have been dead by the 1920's,

Anyway all you need to do is look what the Dems have done, all about power and keeping the docile support in place.

There will be a reckoning, there always is.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

They teach it in middle school so everyone should know, really. IDK though, I spent half of middle school in detention so it probably wasn't an ideal learning environment. I have read about it at other times though. The Dems were also considered the party of big business and small government back then.

ETA - I don't think anyone cared about open borders back then. I'm not sure most people knew or cared where the border even was.

I bet them folks at the alamo would disagree about the border thing.
