So why do they promote the bad news of the economy?  The president, any president has very little effect on the economy other than to be a cheerleader.

  You are making this argument in a "Trump wins" rah rah thread where certain people have been attributing every positive change in the economy to Trump for almost 2 years?

I believe I have been pretty consistent in my comments regarding a president’s actual effect on the economy.  Personally, I am very happy the economy is doing well right now, but like it always is, there are cycles of ups and downs.  I would prefer to remain optimistic though and not promote the negative news.

I don't agree with you on that.  The economy is booming and it has everything to do with what the president has done.  Reducing  taxes, especially the corporate tax rate and reducing some regulations has done it. 

 

Stick Elizabeth Warren in there right now and let her tax the hell out of coporations and people making over a couple hundred thousand and see what happens.

I do agree that the corporate tax cut was a big factor, but we cannot give all the credit to Trump on that one as the Congress also played a role.  Elizabeth Warren’s 52 trillion plan that supposed will not impact the middle class is a joke, but these candidates can say whatever they want, they still need Congress to make anything happen.

But without the President to promote and push a tax cut then nothing changes and the economy stays  as is or worse.  Congress wasn't ready to push a tax cut, especially on corporations.

That is what I said, the president has the bully pulpit to promote the economy, and Trump certainly does that.  Our past President was not quite so enthusiastic about the economy telling us to get used to mediocre numbers.

It was a response to negative economic comment.  In my opinion, all elected officials should be promoting the economy regardless of the party.
