I doubt that anyone is shocked. Our trade deficit hit a record high last year. That's going to happen when you have an economic stimulus and strong consumer demand. Then tariffs went into effect. It doesn't take a stable genius to predict the outcome. We are paying more for the same goods, thus we buy less.

The reality is slightly different from the made for TV version. Just like Mexico isn't paying for the wall, China isn't paying the tariffs. US consumers are. Not much of a win here.

Unless they stop buying. Which is what is happening. Theoretically you could have 100% tariffs, or enough to stop all trade. Then you could have no deficit at all. I'm not sure what makes that a good thing.

The focus on a trade deficit is not the issue. It's missing the big picture. It would be great to have more American made products. Using tariffs to accomplish that is what I question. It's like chopping off someones leg and then celebrating how much weight they lost.

Apparently, the Chinese are paying for the tariffs the Chinese government imposed onUS goods as exports to China grew by a little over 18%.

https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/gallup-trump-approval-rating-ticks-up-to-new-high-of-46-percent/

well well well. Do you think the MDL will say it doesnt count like they did when Rasmussen said it. More popular than Obama at same time in Presidency

I bet the MDL is losing its mind.  Their answer. Arrest Barr.  The dems better get back to the center and try to work on something besides attacking Trump. Its all they have.
