NOA1 date = July 3, 2017

Jan 17th received letter requesting more info. Problem - my finance and i live 8 hours apart. We have been driving back and forth to see each other. We dont have any airline tickets or other documents that show both our names on it to prove we have met in person. We sent photos of us together but still received a letter requesting more proof. We have videos but the letter specifically says NO videos??  We dont know what to send as proof?? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

That seems pretty dumb of them to request that because they should have all the records in the data base of your border crossings to and from US/Canada.  I was doing the same thing as you for awhile.  Traveling every weekend from Phoenix,AZ to Puerto Penasco,Sonora,Mexico (aka Rocky Point Mexico).  Mine was 3.5 hours one way.  One thing I started doing in Rocky Point was keeping receipts of purchases, game tickets, show tickets, taking pictures together in front of monuments famous to Rocky Point and pictures with her friends and I.  When she moved back to her hometown in February last year I started going from Phoenix to Magdalena de Kino,Sonora which was the same distance in a different directions.  Over there i did the same thing.  Took pictures in front of famous places with her and her parents.  Also kept purchases from there too.

I hope that helps

Things to look for :

Visa stamps (unless Canada just scans it with no stamp)

Money withdrawals/credit card payments in her town and/or her transactions in yours

If you haven't yet, some texts/emails/chats

Dated photos in front of landmarks also marked with location and who is in the photos.
Receipts from hotels or credit card purchases.
Any kind of receipt that shows you in the same place at the same time / location / names / dates.
Affidavits from family and friends attesting they were with you.
I don't know how Canada handles border crossings so I let others add to that.

thanks for the help all. Im a newbie so super thankful for the help :)

- agree  @ironpatriot1 about the border crossing info. We have crossed together several times at the Michigan/Ontario, Canada border so Im sure they have a record of the crossing. Not sure why immigration cant access that info but oh well.

- @bakphx1@aol.com unfortunately passports dont get stamped at the US/Canada border where I am. They just view it and hand it back so no luck there :(

- we are going to get affidavits i guess of ppl who can confirm they've been with us at events (weddings / social gatherings etc)

- we will also dig thru bank/credit card records and find a record of purchase  at same place / time / location / names / dates. Im sure while he was pumping gas, i was in the store buying a bag of chips at some point...i hope!

hotel receipts - we've been to several but only ONE of us ever pays. so there would only be proof that ONE of us stayed at that particular hotel so not sure we can use those receipts.

photos in front of landmarks - unfortunately its too late for us to take. The photos would have had to be taken prior to July 3rd and we dont have any that date back that far :(

To be blunt, they shouldn't have to. It's your job to show that you meet the requirements, no theirs to lookup information that you're meant to provide.

I'm not sure what system Canada uses to track crossings, but did you try to lookup the I-94 history for the crossings into the US? It won't include crossings where they didn't swipe the passport, but presumably they did so at least once.

https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/

You can take screencaps from the video and print those out. It's not the same as sending the video, but it's the next best thing. I would also include a signed written letter describing the crossings and that you only live 8 hours apart. The IO probably does not know the driving distance between the addresses.

For future references and future ongoing evidence have them put both of your names on the hotel receipt. That's what we did, even though just
one paid. It shows you being at the same place at the same time.

Hotel receipts are good, if you traveled at all together, that's more proof.  If you didn't, write out a timeline of when and how you met and saw each other. It may jog your memory too of any documentation you can get.

if you ask the border guard, they would probably stamp it for you. canada doesnt usually stamp but they do on occasion (paul and i both have a couple of stamps from over the past few years) and im sure if you asked, they would. Canada is friendly like that, eh? ;)

why can you not get more photos? just take more and make sure theres a date stamp on it. landmarks are NICE but dont have to be touristy, even a local courthouse, a welcome to state sign, local college or park would suffice id think.

phone records.

wills and power of attorneys (if you have it) - make sure they are notarized

letters from friends who know you both well and have met you both on several occasions

@debbiedoo "why can you not get more photos?"  .... the application hasnt been approved yet. The letter requesting more information specifically states that all photos, reciepts etc must be from dates prior to July 3rd, 2017 (which is the date our application was received ).  We've been dating for 17 months now but werent great at taking pics or keeping receipts from when we first met back in August 2016 up until the date we submitted the I-129F :(  we are taking several pics and keeping records now, in case we need at interview (assuming they let us make it that far ugh) but for now the prob is providing evidence for the times we have been together from aug 2016 to july 2017.

This is fine for additional evidence of a bona fide relationship (used during the interview, even if you provide it sooner), but won't work for the RFE itself. The requirement is to have met before filing, so any evidence from after filing won't matter.

Nah, it's only for records with US arrivals and departures. Maybe (probably) Canada has a similar lookup system, but I'm not aware of what it is, sorry.
