It's very common for Nebraska to deal with RFE's before approvals. As Khallaf pointed out you can always call Tier 2 at USCIS to see what the current status is on your case. Tier 1 does not have access to the same information they do.

no tier 1 will only tell you what you can see yourself online.. do not bother with tier 1 and what they tell you

We waited about 2 weeks after our i130 approval before we started calling NVC. They will either have your case number or they won't. Do be discouraged by anyone who says not to bother for 6 weeks. You can also send an online enquiry to NVC where they will email you back. I think 3-4 weeks after your i130 is approved is about average.

While your waiting be sure to get your documents in order such as getting the police certificate. If you get all your paperwork ready once you have your number you just have to submit it.

my husband will not need his police report till his interview right? the NVC states is just for me the USC to fill out the AOS and pay the fee and the DS-260 and pay that fee upload the I-864 and tax returns right?

It may depend on the country but for Canada I was surprised when I saw the police certificate as part of the NVC documents required. If my collegues had not pointed this out this would've set me back further.

I would try to find a link to your consulate in what documents you will be asked to submit. The process of gathering NVC documents is time consuming.

I doubt whether USCIS updates their website will make much of a difference. I found NVC competent and the wait times not bad. They also allow the applicant to call which in our case was helpful.

Wait until your case status updates to sent to DOS, then wait about 2 weeks after your case was sent, then you can call NVC to get your case #( possible if NVC do their job). That what happend with  my I-130.

It just standard NOA2. You will get another case status update when it send to NVC. Mine was never got any update about NOA2, but NOA2 paper come in the mailbox and the only case status update is when USCIS send it to NVC.

Every country does things their own way so I would encourage you to research your own process. I only know the NVC process for Canada.

The NOA2 will say the date it was approved. Unfortunately you won't know the date it was transferred to NVC until they acknowledge when it was received. Often you won't know the day they received it until they assign a number. No harm in calling. Just be prepared to wait a few weeks.

You should gather all documents for NVC steps ASAP. Make sure including more side-load evidence which you not submit at USCIS stage.

I only thought it was the AOS tax returns I didn't know there was more evidence and I don't know where to find the list of papers that need to be submitted to NVC either
