Hello all! I have a question regarding the expected completion of CR1 from Italy according to your experience. We filed August 7th, 2017 and our NOA1 was dated August 14th, 2017. Our case is at the Nebraska Service Center. VJ expected NOA2 is currently between May 3rd and May 19th. Considering the expected VJ NOA2 date and considering no RFE, how long does it take for 'Case Complete'?

mine took 8.5 months to complete to be sent to NVC if you have the case tracker app for your phone you can do a search of 500 cases around your pd to see if and when they start approving or sending out RFE letters.

Problem is my Receipt number LIN doesn't work as I noticed many August filers have a not-working receipt number. With that being said, I still expect a mid-May 2018 NOA2 but would like to know how long does it take total? I have 2 case tracker iPhone apps but don't know which receipt number input and how it works.

from start to finish about 12-14 months

I use the one with the eagle in the middle, but I also was approved on 1/17 got my letter on Tuesday, and it still hasn't updated on the tracker...so it works about half the time, kind of like the US government

is it true that NOA2 has an expiring date so Case must be completed within 4 months of NOA2 receipt? I heard NOA2 is valid for four months. Could anyone confirm it?

there is no expiration date on the NOA2 I know that when I called NVC was told it can take 6 weeks for them to get the papers from USCIS and then another 4 weeks to input everything to get you a case #....I know that time line is way off and many have gotten things completed way faster.

Quite a lot of time! Is this a real estimate or the maximum extent it could take to receive a case number?

It can take up to 6 weeks to get your case number at NVC. If you call or send online enquiries you can often get your case and invoice number much sooner. We got ours within 3 weeks.

Timelines are just estimates because there are many variables such as how efficient people are at gathering documents. 12-14 months in total for a CR1 is for an average case without any delays.

In terms of how long it takes to get a case complete can vary by country. In Canada we got to submit all of our documents electronically so our case complete was very fast. Timelines for various consulates can vary in terms of how long you wait for an interview. I would encourage you to seek out other Italians who have applied for the CR1 to get a more accurate estimate.

The two cases after ours and few before us have got rfes. Does it mean they must have touched ours?

That is what it was like for me and one day I finally called Tier 2 and spoke with them and begged for an answer he put me on home 5 min and came back and said good news you were approved. Nothing online has updated still to this day.

I will call NVC each friday until they get me a case # I want to get through this next part as soon as possible, I am not going to wait for snail mail to get to me.

We waited about 2 weeks after our i130 approval before we started calling NVC. They will either have your case number or they won't. Do be discouraged by anyone who says not to bother for 6 weeks. You can also send an online enquiry to NVC where they will email you back. I think 3-4 weeks after your i130 is approved is about average.

While your waiting be sure to get your documents in order such as getting the police certificate. If you get all your paperwork ready once you have your number you just have to submit it.

It's very common for Nebraska to deal with RFE's before approvals. As Khallaf pointed out you can always call Tier 2 at USCIS to see what the current status is on your case. Tier 1 does not have access to the same information they do.
