My suggestion, record one of their loudest fights. They have to sleep some time and my guess is they are sleeping when you leave in the morning so put the tape you made of them fighting and put it on infinate loopback and put it on play as you walk out the door. Make sure it is loud!!!!

Good luck....

I am so sorry for you! In case things don't work out I can only advise to move, even though it's NYC there are certainly areas that are calmer. I lived in a backstreet in Astoria/Queens, a single family house shared even with 3 roommates and it was calm. Depending on your income you can look for something.... I hope it works out for you! I am pretty shocked that the police doesn't fine them or something...

Do the neighbors have any money? Can you sue them for harrassment and/or interfering with the quiet enjoyment of your home? Maybe it would help recoup some of your moving fees. Might be worth checking out....

Good luck, and I hope things get better soon!

is it possible for you to begin calling the landlord at night when these people begin to have a row? I dont know if you have that kind of access to him/her, but may be worth a little bit for them to share your frustration  .

I don't think the police can do anything in this situation as its a civil matter, they can only knock & request they quiet down (which they obviously dont care to do). this is your landlord's problem, and moreover, its become your problem. i agree with others, move out, take the loss. sorry this is occurring with such frequency and the blatant disregard for neighbors.

do they sleep all day or something?

I would agree, call the landlord in the middle of the night if you can. Let him see what its like to be woken. After all he is the only one that can do anything about it.

If I lived close by, I would help you with getting even with them on the "noise level" as a form of revenge. I love doing things like this. But I'm on the other side of the coast from you.

I think you can seriously put a stop to all of it very cheap. Get a 500 watt power amp and a 15 subwoofer. Plug the stereo or "audio out" into the power amp, face the subwoofer into the common wall, crank the volume, and let it rock! Their wall will be filled with nothing bump total thumping! It will probably take the pictures off the wall. I would set the thing to go all night. Let 'em see how it feels getting the disturbance thrown back into their faces. You may want to take refuge in a hotel for the night though. ;)

We are on the same wavelenght, sometimes you have to fight fire with fire. I would be having a BIG BLAST at 3am, enough to wake up everybody, and let them call the police over, The landlord would have to do something about it.

they do that door slamming door thing too. everytime they come and go its "SLAM!!!!!!!!" even the bedroom door. who DOES that? so fukcing rude.

my mom was here alone all day and said they were fighting again around 3pm. it seems they go to bed around 7am and wake up at 3.... this morning i BLASTED my tv as loud as possible for as long as i could. it just isn't loud enough though......................i should consider getting those speakers if i stay.

today i went to a realtor and began looking at new apartments. i currently live in queens (an area thats supposidely QUIET and family oriented). but i will move to a quiet street in manhattan and happily pay double than i pay now. tomorrow the landlord said he will come over to talk to me. so i will ask nicely if he will give me all my money back. if not, its to the courts we go!

i sleep 3 hours a night. im a mess. i was crying on the subway, in the street, and at work today. i'm done sitting by and letting my landlord dealing with it. i'll take the loss if i have to. :dead:

thanks for all the advice, support, sympathy, etc....love you, vj! :)

jen i have the same problem i live in the lower floor of my house right next door to the tv where my dad listens who is half deaf which i might add so sometimes the sound is up to enough to shake the house of the foundation. sometimes i go into my happy place my island where i am laying on a hammock i am wearing a bathing suit and look thin(lol thats funny) and with the cool breeze blowing i am noding off with zakaria by my side as the waves crash in the background and the salty breeze of air comes to cool my skin i nod off and think mmm this is the life. if that doesnt workthen i knock on the wall say excuse me can you be more quiet please? i need some rest and i understand your pathetic life you dont have to work but i do, you can go shout somewhere else or you can pay me the money to get out of the aparment. if need be i will call the cops have them stay on duty and if you make so much as a nother noise i will make sure you azz gets into jail for disturbing the peace.
