Hey guys,

In process of gathering together forms and evidence for AOS, to send off soon as I have my medical completed. Getting my medical done ASAP. I have my vaccination records from back home, so I'll take that with me. I'm super confused by the I-693 vaccination part of the form. What vaccinations do I actually need? I'm 27 and from the UK if that helps. I've also had the seasonal flu jab, which I know is required.

Thanks in advance

The shots a 27 year old needs:

Mumps/Measles/Rubella- if you only got one as a kid, you'll need another. If you have no record and get your first on record at the medical exam, they will waive the second because the don't make you wait 4 weeks interval to get #2. Waiver is "insufficient time interval".

Tetanus/Diptheria/Pertussis- you may have been immunized as a child. In the UK they tend to add polio to that one for a four-in-one jab. You don't need a polio shot as an adult, but it's okay if it was included with your DTP vaccine.  You will need a top up of Td if it's been more than 10 years since you were last immunised for Tetanus. If you have no record at all then Tdap is the one adults get.

Varicella-  if you had chickenpox as a kid, tell the doc and he will waive the shot. They take your word for that one.  Most in the UK have chickenpox because they don't immunise for it there. Waiver marked is "Varicella history".

Flu- you've had that you said. Take written proof.

The long list somebody posted is every shot that might be given to an immigrant. Most are only for babies/children and are not age appropriate for an adult, nor required of an adult. You don't have to catch up on the child ones by proving with records. Your only concern is the four I listed.

Cheers! Unfortunately, I never got chicken pox as a kid, so the Varicella is the only one I need. If I got the first shot, and the second shot was scheduled for a later day, would I still be able to pass a medical?

They do not make you hold up immigration to wait an interval for the next shot if there is a series. The same would be true if a pregnant woman needed MMR. Rubella is containdicated during pregnancy. She would not have to wait until her delivery to get a shot. They allow waivers so the doctor is able to  recommend them when appropriate and sign off.  You may get shots later for your own health,  but immigration will not require them if marked with a waiver.on you medical appointment date.

I know but I'd say 70% in that thread were K1 adjustments so almost all of their medicals were long expired....

K-1s don't use the i-693.

The medical done overseas doesn't have an expiration date, the only requirement is that you file for AOS within 1 year of the overseas medical. Once submitted it doesn't expire, that's why the K-1ers in your thread didn't need to redo their medicals.

The i-693 on the other hand is only valid for a year from when you submitted it.

I got blood titers done for MMR, and the doctor grandfathered them into the I-693, so I didn't need another jab. If you got the MMR as a child, it might be a cheaper/better solution.

I just got my medical I had all my vaccination records , but they only fill out the ones that's are really important to have for your age, hep a and b, mmr, meningococcal, dtap and flu. I had to go get a dtp as it has been over 10years and the flu because its flu season currently. The varciela isn't relevent and a few others because my age. This is what my doctor I saw said. That all these are to cover people from newborns to 70 year olds that are applying and each one is different. Take any records you have. Good luck!
