Dude seriously???? You might just have me killed out here with my own guns or at the very least castrated. My wife already thinks bad about stuff because I am supposedly one sexy beast that I don't need to pour gasoline on to those flames.

But seriously my wife has a brother who does have a mistress and still goes to see here on the regular basis even after having a stroke a month ago. She just told me that last night because she was worried that I might think it's ok to cheat or whatever. But she is the youngest of 10 siblings so there is ALWAYS some kind of drama going on.

Yeah, if you want to sign your death sentence you should do that....call your wife mistress. I know what i would do if my husband said that!

Is it sort of socially accepted in Filipino culture to have a mistress? I know certain Caribbean cultures it is. The women usually know that their love interest has other mistresses ( yes multiple) but they are sort of ok with it. Kind like the Arab Muslim culture where they can have up to 4 wives.

Yeah anyone that pretty much has any kind of money has a side chick/mistress and it's a well known hobby over there. The bad thing in the Philippines is that there is no divorce(Unless your Muslim). So it's very common to see people who got married at the ripe old age of 21 get separated by 25 and live out the rest of their lives with another person unmarried because they can't get a divorce from the first husband/wife. All because the Catholic church thank's it's immoral.

I love a bit of Australian culture.

Yeah, same with my wife.  We met but kept each other at arms distance for a while.   When I finally asked her to go to lunch with me, she said no 3 or 4 times.  I persisted, and she finally relented, but insisted on bringing a fellow Pinay.  She didn't want to give the impression it was a date, lol.

She said I wasn't her type, and she was hoping I'd quit bothering her and go after a couple of her friends who were eager to go out with me (wish I had known that back then!)  She finally caved when I told her I was independently wealthy, tall, and well, ummm... you know...

She knew I was lying about being tall at the time, but I wouldn't let her find out about the other two until after we got married.

...

omg, you got me cracking up.

I have to tell my husband all the time that he has to stop lying about how we met. He tells everybody ( even to random strangers) the "whole" story.

Haha.. When my now husband had to leave the country about 3 years ago because he lost his work permit I told him I will give him ONE box to fill with stuff to leave at my house. In that box he left: a Cattle whip, a pair of flip flops, an Australian rules football, and a boating map... I don't think that box can any better summarize the Australian culture.... hahahaha

Yeah she insisted that we meet at a well known mall in Doha with her cousin(who set us up) and then said preceded to tell me that she does not like white guys. So I kept pursuing her until it worked out.

She knew I was not rich at all and I tell people that when they say that "she just wanted you for the money". I tell them that if she wanted money she could have went back to the Philippines and married her x-bf who is a banana plantation owner in Mindanao.

Too funny, and what a coincidence.  I have had a handful of people say something similar to me.  I mean, I can pay all my bills, but trust me, my income wasn’t anything to write home about.  But I enjoyed looking at them, and asking, “Do you really think so?  Because her last BF, that she dumped, was tall/dark/handsome, and made over $280K (USD) a year.”  That pretty much deflates their “reason balloon”.

Heck, she married me because she thought I was charming.  Now that she knows me better, I have to find new and creative ways to get her to stick around, lol.

I didn't knew that they still live according to Catholic rules. That's insane, especially if you want to get married with someone else.
Happens in Morocco too, as soon as someone has a decent job and income, the wife gets terrified because she knows that there will be other women looking to take her husband. So a lot of the men have mistresses, because they know there are enough girls and women who are ok with just being a mistress instead of a wife.

I heard (can’t say where) that you had to pay him to go out on a date with him?  And you even paid for dinner, too.  He must be an amazing fella!

People are naive.

I have had my patients ask me if my husband is using me for a Green Card. I laugh and said have you ever been to Australia? I feel bad that I made him move here.

lol, that's definitely not the story, so who ever said that to you was lying. And what ever version you might here: don't believe it!! It's all bragging.

So if it’s not that one, then it must be he got scammed by one of those Asian mail order bride websites too.  I guess it’s up to me which story I will believe.

Either one, I’ll still be your friend.  Everyone needs friends, especially immigrants.
