Thank you everyone. I am in some pain again right now, but not at all like Saturday. I am going to ring the ER to see if I can just come in and get some tests tomorrow, or if I have to go through the whole rigamarole of going to my Dr., having him *order* the tests, then to the hospital, blah blah BLAH! I have a lot to do tomorrow...an apmt. in town here later this morning, then much of the day spent in the computer lab finishing up my Access assignments (we don't have Access on this computer at home or on Craig's laptop) so....I hate to go thru running all over creation. If it wasn't the last week of school, it wouldn't be a problem...but this stuff *has* to get done! Argh!

Thanks again for the thoughts/advice...I truly appreciate it...and I will be taking care of it, don't worry. I have to say it's nice to have a group of people who care enough to bother answering and sending wishes! (aside from my rl friends/family of course!) I feel the same way about ya'all! :)(F) I'll let ya know. M.

ETA: Just spoke to the ER nurse and she said it could be an option (to avoid an unnecessary trip to my Dr. just to get orders for labs) to come to the after-hours clinic...soooooo...as long as it doesn't get hurting bad again like Saturday before tomorrow night, that's what I'm going to do. I also have to take a trip to a job center place for some testing that's required for a hospital admitting job I'm going for....and then have to turn in my app at the hospital sometime later that day. At least that part works out!!! hehehe. :) M.

So, was at school in lab most of the day today, but left around 7:30 to go to the after-hours clinic. I wasn't hurting as bad as Saturday, but worse than yesterday. Not feeling so great now. Didn't want to deal with anything to do with stomach/chest at after hours, so they sent me across to ER. They put some kind of IV drip in and made me drink this really nasty green stuff which numbed my tongue for a few minutes...the idea was that it should "numb" my stomach as well, but it didn't do anything for me. The nurse said sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I didn't even say anything about what I wrote/read here, and they said gall bladder pretty quickly too. They drew some blood, took a urine sample and took Xrays all around. I was glad the chest Xray was clear! and they didn't notice anything else unusual there....and they were swamped in ER tonight (all rooms full) and he said that since they don't know conclusively that it's gall bladder, they want me to call tomorrow to schedule an ultrasound. (Has to be fasting for several hours) He said they don't do them in ER at night unless it seems very serious .... ? Anyway, will call there tomorrow and get the ultrasound done sometime this week. If anything needs to be done....probably Monday since graduation is Saturday. Whatever it is, I'm ready to be done with it...not a nice feeling! Thanks again for the thoughts (F)M.

If it is Gallstones, the ultrasound will pick up on it. For now, eat a fat free diet- it will reduce any attacks.

What is weird- in my case, and a friend of mine, we lost our Gallbladders from dieting- eating a fat free diet for too long.

Contrary to popular belief, it is not a high fat diet that will cause gall bladder disease. It is usually when the person goes on a low fat diet and they don't have enough fat in the diet to pass bile through the liver. This then builds up and drops into the gall bladder to form stones. A return to a higher fat diet will then try and push these stones through and cause gall bladder attacks. Vegetarians often get gall bladder attacks, as do women who have been on diets all their lives.

Drinking plenty of water and avoiding fat will help in the meantime. If they don't find it to be gallbladder, I would insist on liver functions tests (which they should be doing anyway if they suspect gall bladder) and stomach testing (especially h-pylori). Don't let them fob you off with pills to mask your symptoms when you are there to find out what is wrong!

Hope you feel better soon.
