Question about NOA1

Have a couple questions:

1)  On the USCIS website, it says that my application was received on July 7th, but I got a text message on the 12th of July that said my application was received.  So, is my NOA1 date July 7th or the 12th, or neither?   The reason I am asking is that according to the updated timeline, they should have already processed my application (they are on the 9th of July now).

2)  What makes it more confusing is that I called USCIS last week to check on the status, and they told me they are working on June 1st applications, which is way different than the timelines on visa journey.com.  Is it typical for USCIS agents to give different processing times than what is on this website?

1.  What does your actual paper NOA1 say?

2.  The processing dates listed on the USCIS web site and the dates reported by USCIS are unreliable.

Actually the paper says July 11.

visajourney timeline now says they are on July 12.  What does this mean??

If I call them they tell me they are processing June 2nd, which is way off so it’s useless calling them.  What could be happening with my application?

On the dates that shows as which date they're doing, it is based on the received date. So yours would be july 7. Your notice date of asked specifically would be 12 but there's not much of a use for it unless uscis asks for this.

uscis just replies with whatever written on the website. As they are mainly doing june cases, and june cases didn't finished in general they don't let people inquire about their cases hence the info on the website says "june 1" as of October 31 which means they only touched as far as june 1 "as of October 31" we are now in January so yes it is normal for the dates not to match.

Nothing is happening with your application. They don't go in an order, vj timeline goes by the people on vj updating their timeline so vj makes an estimation.

there are people in May waiting, in June waiting, in July and before you waiting too. So you are in a normal timeline right now.

So are you saying that the timelines don’t mean anything as the officers don’t go in any particular order through the applications?

It doesn’t seem to make sense that people who applied after me for the same thing at the same center are getting approved before me.  A few days here and there I can understand bc maybe some applications are more complex and looked at more thoroughly , but if what you are saying is true then what’s the point of the VJ timelines?

No timelines mean a lot. They do month by month generally. However they don't sit one day and finish all cases from 1 particular date. A month starts and they start going in an order of dates not wac numbers.

and not all cases in one date finishes at the same time. Vj estimates a time that your case "may" be adjudicated or close to get adjudicated or cases similar to your date may get adjudicated. So vj gives a good estimate in a normal case, if you get an rfe and record it in your timeline for example it will also change the dates. And there are also people who got noa before it or it still shows last month but there's no noa to be seen.

But as you say all cases are different, some may get an rfe, some may be harder to decide on, some may take longer to finish background checks etc. so this is why not every case goes in a perfect order.

Ok, so, I am still waiting for a response from them.  The USCIS website says they are currently processing August 1 applications.   I applied July 7.   I even had the congressman reach out to them on my behalf and they said nothing.  What can possibly be happening? My application was straight forward.

There are lots of people in July 3 still waiting, so it is not about you personally. They don't go according to an order unfortunately.

There are also people in May and June etc waiting.
