Hello everyone. I am on day 174 since I got NOA1 in August 3.

I made a service request asking why I still don't have a response, since when I started this process it was estimated about 5 months wait.

Here is the response that I got:

"On 12/26/2017, you contacted U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) about your I-129F because you believe your case is outside normal processing times.

Your case is currently delayed because the required security checks are still pending. We cannot make a decision on your case until we receive the results of these security checks.

We hope this information is helpful to you."

I really don't understand what this means. I see that others from visa journey are getting approvals starting on day 190 and on. But why am I already on a security check? I spoke to a supervisor (tier 2) that told me they started to adjudicated my case, and then put it on "pending" due to this security check. I am waiting to hear from my representative if this security check is still going on or if it is completed.

I don't understand. Is my case already being adjudicated before day 190+? Or is every August case going through security checks right now?

It means this:

Your case is currently delayed (delay can be days/weeks/months or rarely years) because the required security checks are still pending. We cannot make a decision on your case until we receive the results of these security checks (nothing will happen until they get the security check done/there is no expedite for security check)

I think I remember reading that you submitted an expedite request, correct? Maybe they are willing to expedite your case, but even if the expedite is approved, they cannot move forward until security checks are completed. There is no timeline given to complete these checks, but they are generally done in under a few weeks, and rarely take several months or longer.

Neither of us have criminal records, traffic tickets, nothing. So we are surprised we still haven't heard something in over 2 weeks. We didn't think any of our expedites got approved. This is so stressful because we don't know what is going on.

It might be someone with a similar name, does not mean you have criminal records yourself.

There was a case on here where someone had very similar details (think the same date of birth, town they lived in, and a similar name) to someone who was a child abuser so their application was delayed as USCIS were taking longer for their checks to make sure they weren’t the same person.

I have a unique last name though as I'm from europe but got citizenship from my parents.

Do they do security check to me or my fiance too right now? I thought fiance security was at embassy. I could be wrong.

Oh my lord. I've known quiet a few people with my birthday and town so I guess it's possible...

May you get your expedite quickly!

Thank you!

I don't know if I got an expedite or not. I just know I'm on a security check. I am looking to learn the truth, I hope my representative will help.
