Hello VJ,

Currently, my wife who is the petitioner for her mother and father is filling out form I-864 - Affidavit of Support.  We just paid the fees for Immigrant Visa application and Affidavit of Support.  We're about to fill out form I-864.

In 2017, my wife didn't have an income.  She wasn't working at the time.  I worked and paid taxes.   We filed married jointly.  Do I need to fill out a separate affidavit of support?  Please help......

Thank you in advance!

hi

yes, she had no income so she needs a joint sponsor o co sponsor, even if she just started working again, it's not enough time to show income, o if it is enough to cover everyone

you will need to file an i864A for each parent

Since we filed two petitions, one for her mother and one for her father.  Does this mean, we need to fill out two I-864 and two I-864A??

How about when we send in the evidence such as financial documents/supporting documents.  Can we send everything together?  or do we need to two copies of everything?

Please help!

its two different petition. So, you need to send separate financial documents/supporting documents each petition . Kind of like two copies of everything.

Since we're petitioning for two different people.  When we're ready to send the information in.  Do we send them separately or can we send them together in one envelope?

Any one done this before?

Thank you.

Hi,

We're ready to send in the IV package and AOS package.  Since we're petitioning for two separate people.  Do we send the documents in two separate envelopes or can we combine them into one envelope to ensure that both applications get processed at the same time?

Thank you in advance!

Thank you for your response.

I'm gathering the AOS and IV Package and I just noticed that we need to include the Police Certificate.  Is this a requirement?  What is this for?

Thank you.

Police cert is required, so make sure you send your police cert along with the packages to avoid the delay ( checklists).

Damn!!!! We don't have it.  I'm freaking out now!  Where can they obtain it?  from the local police station?  Her parents are from China.

Thank you in advance!

you can send the package now and then send in the police certificates later so at least they will work with the affidavit of supports

they need police certificates from any and all countries they have lived in for over 6 months since they were 16, so that may take a while

I appreciate your feedback.

We submitted the affidavit of support last month and my wife's parents received their visa interview on May 17.  On the visa interview checklist below.  I'm confused.  It says to bring the appropriate I-864 Affidavit of Support to the interview.  We already mailed them to NVC.  Do we need to fill out another one or submit a copy? (luckily I made a copy with it signed).
