I recently applied for I-485 AOS based on marriage. USCIS is requesting "a copy of foreign birth certificate issued by the appropriate civil authority". I originally submitted copy (front&back) of my "Nufus Cuzdani" Turkish equivalent of Birth Certificate and it's certified translation. Turkey doesn't provide a Birth Certificate like U.S. does and I was able to use my Nufus Cuzdani in the past for other USCIS applications. I came across few discussions that some people were able use just the Turkish Nufus Cuzdani to get approved and/or some using Extract of Vital of Record from "Nufus Mudurlugu" (Birth Records Office in Turkey). Turkish Consulate here in the U.S. also provides International Birth Record (Formul A).

What are my options?

Do I need to;

1- Resend my Nufus Cuzdani copy and translation along with copy of my Turkish Passport pages (related to birth records) ?

2- Obtain Nufus Kayit Ornegi/Extract of Vital Record from any of the Nufus Mudurlugu in Turkey and send it with translation?

3- Visit Turkish Consulate here in the U.S. and get International Birth Record (Formul A) and send it along with consulate translation of Nufus Cuzdani?

Also, my Nufus Cuzdani shows single in the Marital Status field, but I am married now. Is this a big deal and it needs to be corrected with a new Nufus Cuzdani from the Consulate?

Thanks in advance!

Get a VUKUATLI Nufus Kayit Ornegi From Turkey (Nüfus Müdürlüğü) and translated in US certified translator that would be sufficient.  Nufus cuzdani is not acceptable also Turkish Embassy copy. I got RFIE for that because I submitted extract of vital record from Turkish Embassy.

@breeze16 thanks for your answer. If I am understanding you correctly, Nufuz cuzdani and Turkish Embassy's  International Birth Record are not sufficient. In your case, you got RFIE'ed because you submitted any of the two or both? According to the https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/Turkey.html site, "An extract of the records (Nufus Kayit Ornegi/Extract of Vital Record) is acceptable". Did you get RFIE'ed because you submitted this document you obtained from Turkish Embassy, not Nufus Mudurlugu? I researched this issue and found out that I can get a Vukuatlı Belge from e-Devlet online. Is it acceptable? and how you obtained yours?

So my case when I submitted my AOS I asked my lawyer how to get birth certificate because we ( Turkish People ) doesnt have such document and he told me to get it from Turkish Embassy which they issue Nufus Kayit Exract of vital record so I get that document from embassy just that one not Nufus cuzdani (turkish ID) than I got RFIE about birth certificate. I did some research and USCIS website even says submit an original document from original place so document has to be from Turkey it says clearly on their website not records from Embassy. So I called my mom only your parents can get it from Nufus Mudurlugu ( they said their system is changed before your siblings can get your nufus kayit ornegi but now they only issue your parents) She got Vukuatli Nufus Kayit Ornegi that shows your all family grandparents included she scan it and email to me and I find a translation company here New York they translated and I got certified translation and attached the Turkish writing one send USCIS they accept it. My suggestion get vukuatli nufus kayit ornegi translated here  attached the translated and original one send it. I don't think e devlet still gives Nufus kayit maybe they do but its not the same as vukuatli it is same the Embassy issues. Hope that helps that was my experience. Reach me out if there is anything Im happy to help.*hugs
