Another Police Cert. Question

We are waiting to get the fingerprint check to come back from Canada (had to do it by mail as my fiance is in Grenada). It is taking forever and the Embassy wants to schedule the interview. We would like to know what we might be up against regarding what that record may say. My fiance was arrested in Canada over a false complaint in a domestic dispute. All charges were dropped so there was no conviction.

What I want to know is if an arrest without conviction will show up on the certificate. And if it does, will he need any court records to show the case was dropped? The check will come back so late in the game that we want to track down any addition documentation we may need as soon as possible.

If anyone has had experience with this it would be very appreciated.

I would track down that court records if you can. This will support and fully explain what happened as further proof. You are also going to need to have these records anyway for the AOS stage - it says so on the interview letter. Good luck. Sorry I don't know how long it is going to take to get these records or checks.

You will require the court documents for the Adjustment of Status interview here in the US. I just called the courthouse where I had went (my charges were withdrawn) and they mailed me a copy of the court record (which included the police report). It was very fast and an easy process. I think all told it took under 2 weeks to have the records mailed to me here in the US.

My husband had to get court records for a DUI charge in the early 80's. It did not take long at all to get the court records .... MUCH quicker than getting fingerprints done in Canada
