I- 129 F packet problem

Please help me out. We are currently in the process of gathering our requirements for I-129 F packet, I am the beneficiary and I was advised that my birth certificate is included, my main question is, I found out recently that my father’s name was spelled incorrectly and it’ll take 3-5 months to have it corrected. So I was thinking of still submitting it knowing what was wrong with my birth cert. will it affect my application?

The beneficiary's birth certificate is not necessary to file I-129F, just at the embassy interview. You should almost certainly have 5 months before your interview date, so this shouldn't be a problem at all.  

 

I would suggest not submitting it now, so there is no inconsistency between the biographical data filled out on the form and your supporting evidence.

You can prove your U.S. Citizenship status in 2 ways:  Either with your U.S. Passport or your birth certificate.  You do not have to submit both.  

 

With that being said, I submitted both and I was in the same situation as you (My mother's surname was spelled incorrectly).  I put her correct spelling on the I-129F form when asked, then sent in the birth certificate with the incorrect spelling expecting to get an RFE.  I did not get an RFE, but just in case, after I sent the petition, I immediately ordered a new birth certificate with the correct spelling.  My plan is to take both the new certificate and my mother's birth certificate with me to the interview (in case they need to see the correct spelling of her surname) in case I am questioned about it.

If you are the beneficiary, your birth certificate is no needed to be send together with I-129F petition. I didn't send mine (beneficiary) and still got approval for our petition. Don't worry, take your time to correct the birth certificate and make sure it is ready during the interview because it is when beneficiary birth certificate is needed
