OP - I don't believe anyone here is necessarily condoning infidelity, but your question came across as a question of whether or not it is illegal to cheat. No, cheating is not illegal. Infidelity is definitely a solid grounds for divorce, however, and there may be legal repercussions in that case. However, none of us here are lawyers and can give you legal advice. We can share opinions and guesses, but that'll pretty much be all they are. Unless someone here actually happens to be a lawyer for a living, in which case I wouldn't think they come here to talk business and come here for their immigration purposes.

 

It's very unfortunate that your partner has treated you and your relationship and marriage this way, absolutely. But this may not be the best outlet to seek the answers it seems you are looking for. I would hire an attorney. Find support groups for victims of infidelity or general divorce support groups to gain the emotional response you need. If support groups aren't your thing, consider a one on one therapist.

 

As for whether or not you'd have to pay him money - that's another question an attorney well educated on both sides of the situation would have to answer.
