Please help! Bringing mother from abroad - IR5 VISA PROCESS

Hi guys, 

 

I will be filling for my mother soon and I'm wondering what documents I need to send to NVC. So far, from what I have read, here are the docs I think I'm supposed to mail: 

- Cover letter

- I-130 form

- G-1145 form

- Check for fees

- Copy of my birth certificate, certified translation in English. (Not sure if this needs to be notarized or legalized by the Minister of Foreign Affairs in my home country) 

- Copy of my naturalization certificate

 

- I-864 form, affidavit of support? (Not sure if I need to send this now or later after it gets approved by the NVC)

- Copy of my mother's birth certificate? (I've heard some people have also sent this too but not sure if this is true)

- Also, my mother's divorce decree? 

 

if anyone has gone through this experience, any feedback would be appreciated! Thank you!

the nvc is the second stage of the petition. first it goes to a uqcis service center

 

the i130 is filed first, it will be sent to a service center where it will be approved. uscis will send the approved i130 to the nvc, where they will contact you for the second stage

Thanks Aleful! Alright, so the NVC is the second stage. As for the requirements for the 1st stage, are all of those requirements that I mentioned above correct? Or am I missing something? Thankss!

As for sending your I-130 packet, please also remember to send them your mother's birth certificate with a translation. The translation can be conducted by anyone who knows that language and who is willing to sign a translation certificate. The only requirement is that that person can't be you.

 

You will send NVC your I-864 packet when they receive they received your approved I-130 from USCIS and until they authorize to do so. In that packet, you will send your most recent takes along with 2016 and 2015 although providing with them with 3 years worth of taxes is optional. In that packet, you will also include a copy of your ID, Natz cert, passport and her passport. Please check and see if you will be needed a co-sponsor if you don't earn enough annual income. You don't have to include her divorce decree unless she did not change her name and her current name doesn't reflect your own last name.

Yes, I went through the instructions on the USCIS website. I was just a bit confused by the requirements stated there and from what people have told my mother back home that are going through the same process. So, it looks like not only my birth certificate must be included in the I-130 packet but also hers. Good to know! I also heard they also need to be notarized, is this correct? She never changed her name so I guess no need for the divorce decree then. As for the cosponsor, I would definitely use my wife as a cosponsor since she makes a lot more money than me and to just be safe ya know. Thanks a lot for your help! I will ask you more questions as I'm going through the process if you do not mind

Yes, the i130 is the form you need if you want to sponsor your relative immigrate to the US

Any update for august 28 2017 filer, thats my daughters priority date for me and my husband. My service center is Texas SC

The parents passport or the beneficiarys passport is not yet needed to pass and its needed during beneficiary's interview in their embassy consulate

Yes, the I130 form but I'm not sure what the other requirements are to sponsor your brother. I'll be sponsoring my mother pretty soon.
