In my case- I am more anxious about going back to the US.

Right now I am in the home I grew up in- with my family and friends and the environment that I am used to. My comfort zone. Even though my family is highly disfunctional! :) And I'm with the family dogs- they are my babies. Polly was my 18th birthday present, She is 15 now and everytime I leave her- I wonder if it is the last time I will ever see her. It breaks my heart.

Before I came back to Canada, me and Mel were fighting alot. I needed a break and wanted to come home. I didn't think that "break" was going to end up being almost a year! I love being with Mel and I love life in New Orleans, but it is hard sometimes. I don't have the culture shock that some couples have to go through but it is still a different life for me in the US. I gave up everything I had in Canada and sometimes I miss those things- having my own car, a cell phone, etc. I know I can work and get those things again- but that is still going to take some time.

Me and Mel have some things to work on when I get back. And we will.

I am excited to go back, and I am a little scared about going back.

As a teenager I was diagnosed as Bi-Polar and again a couple of years ago. Recently my diagnosis was changed to Severe Depressive Disorder. I am on medication that really works for me and I try to talk to my close friends when I feel down. I will say that this visa process has stressed me out as well as causes me to feel down a bit more often. I have a hard time sleeping at night but will soon be taking something to sleep. For me it seems that alot that happens in my life triggers my depressive behavior. I would suggest definitely seeing a doctor and see what kind of treatment plan will work for you. Good luck and if you would like to chat, PM me!

I wish you all the best and really hope you can find some relief soon. I've been through Depression too once or twice (not too long of periods, thank goodness) and it's so not fun. I feel for you.

I would also like to say though, that even though your honey may be looking forward to coming (of course he is, cause you're here!!!) :) and even though it's "only" Canada (like "only" UK!) and they are very similar countries...there may be a few weeks (or months, or only days!) that your honey will really need you to be there for him...he may feel slightly down over leaving his old life behind. (and he may *never* experience that at all!) Above all, you want to be ok for YOU! for sure....but just another incentive to get yourself feeling better...so you can be there for HIM when he may need you, too! (F) Good wishes coming your way...M.

I too can relate with you with how easy it is to get depressed during this whole visa process. I think the worst time for me was just after I'd met David for the first time in real life, then had to fly back to Canada, terrified I would never see him again. (To make matters worse, I actually had a severe phobia of planes before we had met, so getting on that plane to meet him in the first place was almost enough to hospitalize me lol.)

The best advice I can give, is just take it one day at a time. Wake up every morning and let the first thought you have be that you are now one day closer to seeing your SO again. Celebrate each small success as they come. The whole process seems overwhelming if you look at the big picture, so instead of trying to mentally tackle the whole thing at once, split it up into small hurdles and deal with each step as it comes.

In my opinion, if you were strong enough to walk into this knowing how hard the process could be on you, but went ahead and charged in anyways, you are stronger than you give yourself credit for :) It will all be over soon enough and you'll thank yourself in the end that you stuck it out and did what you knew was right in your heart

Take care, and hang in there :)
