Thats exactly what I had to do, so yes unfortuately it will be near 150-180 days if you do not quit.

Well.. my plan was to get EAD around May to June so after using all PTOs for a trip to my home country, I could then find a new job. That being said, an international trip was planned in August/September already. Guess I could give it two more months to wait for the EAD as long as I don't quit. Currently at 140 days and saw many cases around mine got "card production" last week.

Did the officer give you any instruction after you told them you were quitting? TIA

My case I quit a couple months back. Said I am at 121 days and now have job offer waiting. Officer mentioned they had it listed basically no rush cause my account showed I have my old work visa till November 2018 and active. That said I think you could for sure all around 180 days and say you will outside processing time.

That makes sense. Given that a couple of post did mention the theory of the relation between i94 expiration date and application date, I now believe more in uscis put our cases as non urgent ones. Wish you good luck in getting expedition of EAD and speedy approval!

This information is so useful. Thank you! I was wondering if they are able to see if a current visa is still valid or not. I was contemplating on quitting end of July in order to be processed sooner for an EAD since I do want to leave my current job asap.

Please keep us updated.

Hi everyone,

Congrats on your process being carried forward! Meanwhile, I'd like to see if any of you expedited I-765 recently and got approved. Can you share your timeline with me? Thank you in advance!

Unfortunately I'm experiencing delay in EAD expedition. My job position start date was 6/25, but they pushed it to 07/09 due to my EAD delay.

Here is my timeline:

01/29: USCIS all NOAs were received

02/15: RFE

03/21: Response to RFE received, case was resumed

05/24: expedite requested by phone for reasons: severe financial loss to person and nonprofit organization

06/01: Congress representative sent supporting documents to CIS on my behalf

06/11:Congress representative received generic response

Thank you for your inquiry regarding this constituent's immigration matter. This case will be routed for expedited processing. Once this case is reviewed, your constituent will receive a decision or notice of further action. Due to the extremely high volume of expedite requests for this case type, there are numerous cases involving exigent or humanitarian issues already in the expedite queue, and we are unable to provide a specific timeframe for the expedited review. The strict enforcement of the expedite criteria means that all cases sent for expeditious handling are urgent, and we assure you that this case will be adjudicated as soon as possible.

Since 06/07: I called USCIS 3 times, transferred to Tier II 3 times, but automated system put me on hold but never received a call back. If you can share your expedite timeline, it will be great. Thank you!

Sincerely,

Nate

Hello.

Sorry for the delay on your EAD, I will suggest booking an Infopass appointment and try pleading you case about your EAD at your local office. You can just Google Infopass appt and your will see how to do it.

Also to be able to talk to a tier 2, it is best to call USCIS at 8 AM eastern as soon as they open, they are less busy st they time and you have more chances to receive a call back within an hour or 2.

Good luck

Hello Guys,

So I had my interview yesterday at the USCIS office in Baltimore MD, the appointment was scheduled at 8:30 am. We live about an hour away from Baltimore so just to be safe, because you never know with traffic, we left early and arrived at 7:30 AM. We went to Mcdonalds to eat and kill time and went in and checked in around 8:15 AM.

You have to go thru security like in the airport, but no need to take off your shoes.

The waiting room was pretty full, they do all type of interviews, oath ceremonies etc. After an hour waiting we were called around 9:30AM by a gentleman, he walked us to his office and introduced himself.

He checked our IDs and my fingerprint to verify our identities; then sworn us in. He asked if we had any other documents we wanted to add to the application, so I gave him the list below:

  • W2 for my husband for 2017
  • My husband last 2 paystubs
  • our joint 2017 tax return
  • my offer letter and first paycheck since I started working 3 weeks ago
  • Joint apartment lease
  • Car insurance with both our names
  • Renters insurance with both our names
  • Proof that I am on his health and dental Insurance plan
  • copy of my military ID
  • last 2 statements of our joint checking and savings account
  • Copy of our joint Cell Phone plan
  • about 20 pictures from the photo album we brought with various pictures with family, our wedding, honeymoon etc
  • My medical exam

After that, he told us the conversation will be recorded and kept our IDs until the end.

Shoutout to @Chicken7585 that gave the great idea of using a Polyexpanding file with post-it tabs, it takes a lot of paper and keeps them all organized, it was easy for me and the IO. Thank you for sharing it in your interview feedback.

He first started talking with my husband and went over the petition (I adjusted from B2), he verified all the info on it, asked for my full name, DOB, my parents' name, if he knew where I worked and lived before living together, how we met, why he chose to be with me and get married to me, if he met my parents, who attended our wedding etc.

It wasn't like an interrogation, he was politely asking questions and verifying along the way, so we felt comfortable and not stressed.

He told us he was satisfied with our relationship and would recommend the petition for approval.

Then, it was my turn and we went over the AOS package, he asked for my husband's full name, DOB,  his parent's name, if I have met his parents and went over all the information written on it and also the Yes/No questions at the end that he tried to condense a bit. I also told him that I was changing to my married name, he made a note on the application and saw that I changed my name on my Drivers license.

After this part, we went over pictures, he even smiled while looking at a few ones, so we were happy about that.

The interview was over at this point and he asked if we had any questions, I told him I would like for my green card to have my married name. He assured me it will be the case.

Finally, he gave us like a receipt that says we completed the interview and the case was being held for review. He reassured us that it was nothing bad but just their procedure. I read on the Baltimore thread that it is just how they are at this particular office, they never tell you if you are approved on the spot and always give you that paper.

He told us to look out for the mail, for either the approval letter or if they require additional document they will be in touch. The whole interview took about 45 min.

We left happy and relieved this was done and went for brunch lol.

I hope we get the green card soon and we can close that chapter for a few years, praying for EADs and interviews for all that are still waiting. And THANK YOU so so much for the valuable information shared, and words of support and encouragement. I will still be around to help to the best of my knowledge.

God bless

And another good update, congrats! You've been waiting on this.

If you've been married more than two years at time of application (or interview?) you should get a permanent GC for 10 years. Those of us who have been married less than that have to file for removal of conditions in 1 year and 9 months from the GC issue date.

That is a huge difference. What is it? Time of application or interview in order to get the GC for 10 years? Thanks!
