Hey folks,

Just checking in after having our interview at New Orleans on Tuesday. Overall a very positive experience. Our appt was 1pm and we were called in right at 1. We had some small chat with our officer as she remembered me as she was the officer that interviewed me for my N400. She checked our ID but didnt ask us to raise our right hand etc, which I remember I had to do back when I was going through everything.

We then quickly ran through the I-485 and I-130.

The officer then asked us to describe how we met and we told our story about meeting through our work. She then asked if we had any additional paperwork in addition to the evidence that we sent with our application packet. We didnt have too much extra. She then told us all looked great and that we should expect the GC in the mail in 10-14 days.

We were back outside in less than 10 mins after we went in. Overall a very smooth and efficient process. It may be worth noting that our situation is slightly different as we have already been married for 2.5 years and have 2 children together, so we are not the typical couple trying to prove our relationship is not fraudulent.

We checked our case status online, however it has not been working since the beginning so I expect we will not know for sure until the card arrives in the mail.

Good luck to all those still waiting! I feel your pain! When I did my AOS 10 years ago i had a super long wait in Dallas.

Congrats. USCIS is stating AOS takes 11 to 20 months to process for New Orleans office. This is no where near accurate. I don't understand how they come up those numbers.

Hello peeps,

USCIS will never cease to amaze me. I saw a letter from NBC on my Informed delivery this morning, I was surprised and excited (no email or text msgs updates from both websites were received).

I was hoping that it would be either the approval for my EAD or the letter for the interview.

So I check the egov webiste, it still shows Case received for EAD in January and AP in March, and they received my response to the RFIE late February: nothing new it has been like that for 2 months now.

I check the DHS website and I see that only the AP was approved. Doesnt make sense but I am thinking let me wait for the mail, hopefully both approvals for EAD and AP would be there. Sometimes Informed Delivery doesnt send you all the pictures of the mail you are expecting.

I get the mail in the afternoon and guess what? It is just the approval for my Travel document. What???! Just to clarify when I applied in January I didnt apply for AP, I applied just for the EAD, but seeing the processing times I thought let me apply for the AP just in case. So the AP was delivered on March 8th, and now less than 2 months later it is approved but no news on EAD.

I called but they gave me the usual BS that Im still within processing times yada yada yada, so I told the agent yes I know Im still within processing times, but why an application sent less than 2 months ago is approved and the one sent in January is unanswered? The agent couldnt give me an answer and was also surprised. He couldnt transfer me to a L2 officer because it was late in the afternoon. He said they have a new system now so he couldnt put in a request for call back. The best way to reach a L2 is either call early in the morning or on Thursdays and Fridays they are less busy.

So I will try again tomorrow morning and Thursday, if I dont get an answer I have an Infopass scheduled for next Tuesday.

I am really starting to believe like I read on another thread that they just pull out the easy applications out of the most recent, approve it to get their stats up and dont follow the order or even bother checking if that person has other applications. They do according to their moods. Ugh Im frustrated. Sorry for the long rant. I will keep yall posted once I talk to an officer.

The officer did state that we appeared to be taken out of order as they were processing November cases and we filed in January.  We didnt ask about it too much, it just came up as we discussed our application and she told us she wasnt sure why we jumped the queue. Even then, the USCIS Processing times online are garbage. They may as well take it down because it doesnt help anyone at all.

I have a theory that it’s something to do with the date of expiry on your existing I-94, if they can accommodate you.

Hello Folks , has anyone following the Jan 2018 or Dec 2017 filers thread , some of the dec fillers are still waiting for EAD while some who filed in Jan have their interview dates already ...

I suspect more people have their interview requests already than reveal on here because no one wants to rub that in the face of the people who are struggling with not getting updates or having their cases stuck. Just me $0.02

Question to those who had their interview and approved - did you request and did the IO place a I-551 stamp in your foreign passport at the time of interview?

I've heard that sometimes they won't and will ask you to make an Infopass appointment to come back another day to do it as a "walk-in".
