I just called NVC and they said they just received my case today, but have not assigned a case number. She said it could take up to 2 weeks to get the number and up to another 2 weeks to send to the embassy.

Now, realistically, when do you guys think I will have my NVC number given this information? And how long until its sent to the embassy you think?

When I called my case number had been assigned within a couple days of receipt, and the person told me they couldn't give me a day when they will send it, but that they don't hold these cases long because for a k1 they only verify all of the paperwork is in the packet and then send it meaning they don't do any bg checks or anything at nvc for k1.

Seems like you might be a little early to expect case number if your NOA2 was on the 17th?

Most posts here so far are from people who got NOA2 in the week of the 8th. I'm a NOA2 Jan 9th myself.

Edit: As I posted just above, seems like NVC keeps cases for roughly 2 weeks, so from received to forwarded to embassy.

I see, so possibly next week is when I might hear something at the earliest. I'm trying to be patient, but I can see the light and want to run to it!

I suppose that since you know it's been received, you could call daily (or multiple times a day like some people here ) . My fiance and I decided to wait a little. I decided to call today, just because I can and was rewarded with our case number ^_^

The "old" advice (prior to the 6-8 week timelines) was to give it roughly 1,5 - 2 weeks, so it seems like we're back to that. Meaning USCIS is doing great in terms of forwarding petitions to NVC

Hey guys ! As far as I’m concerned , it’s possible for beneficiary to call to NVC . The question is, is there a toll-free number , so I can do it from my country ?

Yes. I called them last week from here in the Philippines using my mobile phone. (603) 334-0700 press option 1, then option 5.

Regarding Affidavit of support... we bring this form to the interview? And do not send it in before, right?

Right. We will bring the completely filled out and signed I-134 form together with the pay stubs, ITR, etc. to the interview.

From this forum, I'm getting the feeling they are currently changing their system...... and that currently its pot luck if your case is on the old system or the new system....  This is JUST a feeling from hints I've gotten on this forum from people mentioning their person who answered the phone saying that their case is 'electronic' and a 'new system' and that they haven't yet been trained in it.....  I have no idea which mine is in, if thats even the case, but thats a possible explanation?

that does make sense. now i feel guilty

Yup! Your fiance will fill it out, attach evidence and you will hand it physically in at your interview!

Indeed.  Everyday is a little harder to be positive.  There are July filers with interviews scheduled already.
