Its absolutely pot luck on the person you get. Some aren't trained in how to assign a case number, thats all it is :-)

If they have it, its possible to have it assigned - mine was literally done the same day - she said they had recieved it that morning, and she would assign it a case number right away - fiance said he'd call back later, and she said "I'm doing it right now, here it is... do you have a pen?"

what option did you push to request that it be assigned.  these option 5 people seem like they can only relay info.....

Also @Ay Pe  do you have any more info on dates and times of interviews with Rio --- as far as how many slots per day are available and how quickly they fill up?  I hope that if I get NVC # today,  Friday Jorge can call and schedule interview, and I want to know if those dates will still be available by the time he calls. preferably March/early April :-)   you have been a tremendous help with the Rio embassy info :-)   do they have the availability on their website?   <3 obrigada querida

After  you get the NVC number He needs to fill the DS-160 and then go to this website and fill his information ( https://ais.usvisa-info.com/pt-br/iv) once his interview is available to be booked the website will allow him to pay de fee ( via credicard or cash) and he will be able to choose a  date and time. As far as I could see they had Feb 27th March 6th, 20th and 27th available. I think they have like 5 timeslotes per day. not sure

@vocaledge  I just got laughed at when I told them that someone I know got a case number assigned to them while they wer on the phone with the rep.  he laughed at me and told me they cant be pulled out of nowhere and that it will take 2 weeks. do you know the date your case was "received"?  or did the reps go from saying nothing recvd to heres your case #

how interesting - I used a sample template I found online and it was extremely simple and I didn't provide any details. it was just a statement saying I would marry him and he would marry me within 90 days . the end. these RFEs are weird. <_<

and in addition to that, we literally had/have no official wedding plans considering all the variables with the length of this process and that we don't have any money. ( i don't even have an engagement ring)

how do you show proof of intent to do a court house wedding with a witness? lol.  um...  best I would have done was just write a one page explanation of our tentative plans and reasons why.
