Sooooo...after all the ####### we sent, we ended up getting an RFE.

It's probably for my birth certificate, which I don't have.

So this will be fun.

Are there scary reasons to get an RFE?

I'm so afraid of getting denied or them asking me for something I don't have.

I feel like throwing up.

Wow!? Sorry but not sorry!? Rfe at this times has a complicated feel to it..

I'm sorry it is taking longer but yay at least you heard from them!

I have my NVC number and invoice number, but after having my fiance call I've been told that in order to do the medical we will need the actual physical paper from the NVC. ):

My fiance doesn't want to book anything until we have that paper, either. (We got the NVC number on Friday the 26th). There is currently a 2 week wait for the medical, a 10 day wait for the police records, and the interview says they only have a week wait. In order to book the interview we would need our DS-160 number.

(Tokyo)

Well that's so Japanese of your fiancé....

(Sorry I don't know if it's a she or he but I'll be a little sexist and say she... because I mean the statistics  of international marriages in japan says so)

she needs to start the police records. She can do it even with the wac number.

the papers will arrive in about 10 days. She can book the medical with the number only. If the wait is 2 weeks she can just book the 3rd week and be safe. She cannot book the interview till the packet arrives but everything else she can start doing it.

this is all of course if you can change her mind and make her understand. There are two May filers from japan so go back there and read the last 5-10 pages. There's a really detailed explanation of everything.

(I know these cause I'm also filing in japan)

Not sure I'll be able to read all the prior pages, hope we had some approvals come in!

The embassy in Cambodia told me not to do anything until they contact us (I wanted to start on the forms she would need to complete). Is that people's experience? Not to complete packet 3 until embassy contacts you?

The main things which take time are paper showing lack of criminal history and medical, followed by getting those results translated if not in English. The concerning one is the place which gives police clearance, they are the kind that go slow unless they get a "gift." Too bad we cannot start getting it today

Haha, I wonder what changing the date means. There are quite a few people from early June and even May waiting for their approvals!

Keeping fingers crossed either way!

Exact copy and paste of email from US embassy in Cambodia

"We recommend that you wait to receive instruction from the Embassy before taking any action. We will contact you or your fiance accordingly once we have received the case."

It means they are announcing "normal" times. They can put an inquiry but if there's a background check pending they can't do anything about it. That's all on FBI etc..

Oh wow, thank you! :)

My fiance is actually the guy--I know, statistically we're against the odds :P

I will talk to him again and let him know what other people are doing! Hopefully I can change his mind.

When you say there are may filers from Japan, which thread are you talking about?
