Depends on Embassy, on which to use, if you already have the ds-160 should be able to schedule interview.   though I am not sure on Canada.

Sorry, Just looked at the PDF packet - 4, and looks like it is more for CR-1,k-3 most likely the information is similar to K1 but different forms.

It is the strangest thing.  I was in a bit of a "safe place" while waiting and I got used to it.  Now that I have responded to the RFE things are becoming real.  Yesterday I was worried about waiting and wondering if they lost my petition.  Today I wake up realizing that at 57 I am about to buy a house and move my true love and her two teenagers half way across the earth to start a new life in a strange land.  Living alone for 7 years was easy.  Just pick up whatever I want for dinner on the way home from work.  Go home to a clean and comfortable space with no worries except the wait.  It is scary.

Don't get me wrong, I am embracing and looking forward to these changes but reality finally struck after 260+ days of no word at all.  It is so strange how the mind works.  I guess I was getting used to the wait and become complacent.  Now I need to truly plan the rest of my life.  That is exciting and scary.

I know exactly how you feel, With the interview quickly approaching I am excited and scared at the same time.  I have been living alone for a long time.  I too have become complacement in my lifestyle.  Knowing how the house is and able to pick up at a moments notice and go out to eat with out asking the dreaded "what do you feel like", or "where would you like to go";  If I did not feel like cooking.  Also knowing they will be fully dependent on me at least for while, is a bit unnerving.  In time teaching them how to drive.  Taking them to ESL classes. and just having a family here 24/7.  It will be the first time they see me not in vacation mode, where I have deadlines, reports to write, meetings, training, and occasional travel time away.  Where I will not not be able at night say i am busy put down the phone and pull an all-nighter without my mind going her she traveled all this way to be with me and I am in the home office writing reports.   But then she knows this from our conversations and it will not be a surprise, just different being under the same roof.   Even though not approved by embassy yet, I have called the schools for classes and talked with ESL teachers and community colleges to get ready when they come here.  They have taken English classes in her country, though not proficient.   Only thing that comforts me is that we truly love each other, we have been though difficult times even though countries apart and are still going strong.

Thank you so much for sharing this.  It truly does help to see that others are also facing new challenges in this journey.

You mention "vacation mode".  My concern is when their "vacation mode" ends and they fully realize that this is their home.  It will be fun and amazing at first but they will not fully embrace this as a home until they get out of that vacation mode.  I think that will be the toughest time.  When they realize this is home and they don't fully fit in and understand all the cultural differences.  Once past that point they will probably feel like part of the country but that transition will be tough.

I know that our love for each other will see us through the darkest times.  I am truly a better, stronger person with her by my side.

Hello Vjs,

Yesterday i had my interview approved in Rio embassy. Do you guys know after the interview how long does it take to change the status on CEAC since my status is still as "Ready".

I am worried that something happened because i had my I-864 Affidavit of Support form , but during the pre-interview  when they check your documents the lady returned me this form saying it was not required  I had the W2 and the tax return and she said this documents were perfect, during the interview the CO said everything was fine and I would receive my visa in a couple of weeks.

I am starting to get worried now :(

I had my interview yesterday too. My status is still “READY.” The consul said I will get a call to get my passport in less than a week, so I think we should wait. It also depends on the country where you had the interview.

The consul didn’t ask for any document from me during the interview, not even tax transcripts or an employment certificate. He asked me 2 questions, how I met my fiancé and what quality did I like about him. It was done in 2 minutes.

I am also nervous!

Most of our visits were 'vacation mode'. When Andy was here last week, it was really the first time that we did our own thing - while co-existing. He would play his video games, I would play mine. We'd trade off taking the dog downstairs and cooking dinner. We'd weigh going out vs staying in and making curry. When I was at work, he'd take the dog out for long walks.

Two months ago I was wrecked about it. I didn't want to stop doing what I liked doing just because I was adding another unit to my life. I'm so grateful for last week. I'm scared I'm not going to be a good wife, but at least I can be a good friend.

Honestly, a good friend can make a great wife!  Don't overthink it.  Just be yourself.  You will be amazed at how great a wife you truly are.

This is true but your sensitivity to this will help them immensely. Also, I grew up with some Filipina ex-pat friends and am fortunate to have welcomed some Filipinos into my own extended family as well. I've found them to be decent, hard-working, very loving and profoundly intelligent folks who contribute so much more than they ask for.  No one is perfect, no one is without flaws but for the most part I think Filipinos are just good people...just like Americans. :)

But yeah, there'll be adjustments required of everyone. Any relationship has challenges and getting used to having people under the same roof 24/7 is huge for anyone.  My fiance has lived alone for a long time himself and we've discussed how we'll cope. Only time will tell of course but I'm positive that as long as everyone manages their expectations reasonably, has respect, sensitivity and caring towards the well-being of the other(s), then we should all be okay.

In any case I intend to give the very best of what I am to my new life and I'm pretty sure everyone here feels the same.
