We finally got our interview set for late March, wow what a long road!  We are trying to figure out how to walk the tightrope of when to buy a plane ticket for the US.  If we wait until her interview approval, we will pay double the airfare unless we are willing to wait another 4-6 weeks.  If we buy it in advance, say 3-4 weeks after her interview, we would have to assume the risk of paying the change fee and any airfare difference.  I am leaning towards buying a ticket 3 or 4 weeks after her interview date.  What do other people do?  I am curious how other filers have approached this - it is so hard to be patient when you are this close!

If I may, I have 1 more question. We were told we need to do the medical appointment 1 week before the interview.  This is difficult because we have to incur travel expenses for the medical appointment.  Ideally, my fiance could travel to Rio De Janeiro and do her medical the day before the interview - and that would save us significantly on travel costs.  What is the risk if we do it this way - possibly needing something at the Medical that requires more time and having to reschedule our interview?  This surprised me because I read other people's posts who said they did their medical and interview all in the same day.  Any thoughts VJ'ers?

The medical results may not reach consensus to the embassy on time if done that close. Which would cause you to wait for them to actually be able to issue the visa.

Understood.  We knew there would be expenses, just trying to navigate those where risk isn't involved.  I'll have her get her medical a few weeks before the interview then.  Thanks, as always Naes.

Finally Approved Today!!! June 26 filer!!!!!

Kinda Looking Up whats Next, Any Info Would Be Nice :) Good Luck To All June Filers !

I got my next steps from the Signature line for Naes.  I have copied it here in case you don't know who that is, very helpful information.  Note that every embassy is different on how they send packet 3 instructions, etc.  For us, in Brazil, they did not mail anything to us it was all done electronically over email.

I believe the consensus is buying the ticket prematurely before the case status changes to "ISSUED" risks having to cancel it, as a few people have had their visa cases stuck in administrative processing at their embassy.  I guess we will just check prices and then weigh our options.

Approved!!! Interview date was 2222018 - this was a deliberate choice of interview date on our part. Our first interview date was supposed to be on 27 February but I and my dear Fiance (soon to be Husband ) , got quite impatient, so we decided to move it about 4 days advance (excluding weekends).

Appointment time: 6:40 am - I highly recommend this to those who will do their interview in US Embassy Manila, Philippines

Interview Process; 1 hour

Consular Interview (Final Interview) A young American Consular who exuded a positive aura, smiled often, and very respectful interviewed us and it  took about 15 minutes - as we are K1 K2s (two derivatives) who will fly with me this mid March.

Pre-screening stage- longest/toughest stage - All Filipinos.  We never had any hard time at all, but I saw, and heard right before my eye, and my two boys also saw and heard what transpired with between the applicants and the Pre-Screeners' Windows and from the feedback of those applicants who shared their feelings while we all sat waiting for 7:30 Final Interview with the Consular Officer, how they were asked.  There are microphones and loud speakers at the interview windows so you could hear almost everything. This provided quite a good opportunity for others waiting for their turns to anticipate possible questions.  You need to be really prepared, if not more than prepared with all your documents and what not.  Stay calm and focused, listen well to the question as they may be tricky. It's drama, action, real-life events happening all simultaneously!!!

come to Team Brasil at NOA2 January 2018.  See Brasil Instuctions.

What I believe you will find is all exams can be done in one day but 2 is preferable and 3-4 days for doc to process.  That is how the doc will confirm your dates - unless hardship can be demonstrated - all by email.

So, My case got approved on Jan 16th, 2018. Then at Jan 31st, we got the case number along with the mail telling us that the case got requested back by USCIS. Now, its Feb 23rd, still playing back and forth game. NVC told me to ask USCIS for more information, USCIS told me that they dunno why the case got sent back and I should speak to NVC. Anyone in the same situation?

@sammylee116 has a similar situation going on I think.
