After NOA2 --

I've been researching all day and it appears that there is nothing we really have to do at NVC except wait for the case number and "ready", and prepare for packet 3 at the embassy (S.Korea).  Am I receiving this correctly?

Pretty much. Once it's been received by NVC, it'll be forwarded to the applicable country's embassy and once that happens, the beneficiary will receive Packet 3 in the mail, which contains information about scheduling their interview.

In the meantime, you can begin preparing whatever you know or think either of you may need for the next step. Me personally - I'm sending a full copy of everything I sent with the original I-129 to my fiancé for him to have, as well as all the financial support evidence, such as Affidavit of Support, tax information, bank info, etc. Also any additional evidence to support continued relationship between now and when the I-129 was filed. Those are things they may or will need for the final interview.

The beneficiary can also begin looking into their specific medical requirements, such as what vaccinations will be required. There may be many, and they may not all be able to be administered at one time.

Håll ut, y'all.

30 to 45 days for USCIS to send it to NVC. 2 to 3 weeks at NVC and then maybe another week to get to the Embassy.  Hopefully USCIS starts sending things quicker. That is the long part of the wait.

Congratulations!

NVC has picked up its pace a bit! They were slow for a second. I'm thinking it was due to the holidays. Our NOA2 was 12/1, and I called last week on 1/18. Was told they'd just received ours the day before, and already had a case number and invoice number to provide me. The guy I talked to said it should take a week or two for it to get to the embassy in Stockholm and Paul to get his packet in the mail; someone on the November NVC thread said it was a little under a week after NVC received theirs that the beneficiary received their packet in the mail, and their NOA2 was like 12/15 I think.

Believe me when I say once you hit NOA2, things will begin moving MUCH faster than they have been so far.

Håll ut, y'all.

Probably the wrong thread to ask... UK folk, with your jabs, have you been told that they have to be done privately and not on the NHS?

Just asked about the tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis jabs.

Going to Boots for my flu jab.

USC. They'll ask for both of your full names, the beneficiary's DOB, and your receipt number. At least they did with me. :)

I posted this in another thread about NVC, but since some people here are beginning to move onto that step, too, just thought I'd share:

I had a really positive experience with NVC last week. We were approaching 2 months since our NOA2 and hadn't heard anything, so I called NVC myself. I called around 6 or 6:30 local time (Eastern time) and did not have to wait for a representative. I selected the option from the automated menu for verifying if a case or mail has been received (can't remember exactly how it was worded, but I THINK it was Option 3). I spoke to a really nice young man named Hank who, as soon as I gave him the above details, immediately confirmed they'd received our information the day before and it would be forwarded to the embassy in Stockholm. He was very helpful and happy to answer my questions.

Thank you guys!

I think it will be over a month then for them to receive my case:(

I've not read anywhere that they can't - but some people say the beneficiary doesn't always get the same info as the USC when they call. We didn't want to test the theory, so I've always been the one to call so far, lol.

You'd think it wouldn't matter, since they ask for more info about the beneficiary than they do the USC (at least in my experience). Perhaps it's a "test" - whoever calls, they ask for info about the other. Who knows.

The NVC.

I wonder how long it takes for the NVC to receive my case and give me the case number.

Ah. Well, for those who received NOA2 in November and early December (so far), that has been the case. It took about a month and a half for us to get to the NVC from USCIS (our NOA2 was 12/1 and NVC received ours on 1/17). However, it has begun to pick up a bit this month. I'm thinking the holidays slowed them down, and now that's behind us.

They say after 2 weeks post NOA2, you can begin calling NVC for updates. Once they have received it, even if you haven't gotten the notice in the mail yet, they'll be able to give you the case number. In most countries, you can go ahead with medical requirements with the case number even before receiving the hard copy notification. They did recommend that my fiancé wait till he receives Packet 3 in the mail (which comes after the info has been forwarded to the applicable embassy) to schedule his interview.

Håll ut, y'all.
