After NOA2 --

I've been researching all day and it appears that there is nothing we really have to do at NVC except wait for the case number and "ready", and prepare for packet 3 at the embassy (S.Korea).  Am I receiving this correctly?

That is true, basically waiting and getting ready for packet 3,

So good to hear that there's been a heap of approvals lately!

We got our NOA2 on December 4th, currently at 50 days waiting for NVC number.
We are calling almost everyday at the moment to hear an update!
The waiting is just never ending.....

No, once you have your number from NVC the DS160 can be filed, Visa fees can be paid and interview scheduled. I received my our number friday when i called NVC. I will call as soon as embassy opens today to pay fees, and my fiance will file DS160 first thing today then call to try to schedule her interview.

If you wait until it received at embassy, its just addeding a little extra time. So if you know your petition is on its way to NVC, start calling them. As soon as they have it entered in the system they will give you the case # and invoice #. And thats what you need to file DS160 and schedule interview.

Thats how a friend of mine did his wifes anyway. So im just going by how he did it since its the same embassy.

You actually do NOT need to wait for your NVC number. The NVC /MNL number is NOT asked for at all in the DS-160. https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/ I recommend doing this shortly after filing the I-129F you just have to enter the system once every 30 days or the info will be gone. You DO need the NVC/MNL number in order to actually schedule the interview here though.  https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/

So to sum it up there are 2 processes for the foreigner. 1.) DS-160  - No MNL/NVC needed and 2.) the applying for visa and scheduling interview via cgifederal MNL is needed.

Still no NOA2 or RFE, and at this point I'm looking at booking a trip end of May to Japan :(

Is this crazy? 3 months apart is just about our breaking point, and I'm there for 2 weeks in Feb.

Oh, thank you! I guess it´s because it was taken during our vacation time in Spain last year and we both were really relaxed and well rested. :)

US citizen :) Everything after the NVC is the beneficiary’s responsibility.

USC. They'll ask for both of your full names, the beneficiary's DOB, and your receipt number. At least they did with me. :)

I posted this in another thread about NVC, but since some people here are beginning to move onto that step, too, just thought I'd share:

I had a really positive experience with NVC last week. We were approaching 2 months since our NOA2 and hadn't heard anything, so I called NVC myself. I called around 6 or 6:30 local time (Eastern time) and did not have to wait for a representative. I selected the option from the automated menu for verifying if a case or mail has been received (can't remember exactly how it was worded, but I THINK it was Option 3). I spoke to a really nice young man named Hank who, as soon as I gave him the above details, immediately confirmed they'd received our information the day before and it would be forwarded to the embassy in Stockholm. He was very helpful and happy to answer my questions.

Håll ut, y'all.
