These backgrounds checks are taking longer and longer it seems.

And I can't imagine people from April still waiting! That's awful, I wish them a very quick approval. I don't think my relationship would survive that!

I think there was a really messed up situation on their side on the background checks- I've read some articles not really directly to k1 but i assume it would effect any type of visa...

i dont think we have april left in vj, but as I'm seeing some really little updates online I believe there are people around.

i saw a January 2017 case get approval this January after background checks and an rfe, so unfortunately it happens.

I saw yesterday on FB a March filer just got their NOA2.

There are lots of NOA2s coming in mail without an update on case tracker.

Yeah unfortunately it happens... but at least we are seeing cases resolved like that. I know it is frustrating but better late than denial.

i mean there may be some kind of extra work we are not aware. I would also expect it to happen with my case for several reasons come to mind, even though both of us with no criminal records or nothing and he was in the navy till a few months ago.. it just happens.. we both been to so many countries who knows what they can dig up that we're not even aware..

but if only they could tell these people waiting about what the heck they're waiting for.....

Same here for me and most of them in the Middle East, and of course she lived in he UAE. I'm not worried, because I'm a good ole "Midwest Central  Illinois Farm boy", but still it can take longer for the Background checks.

I agree. That is what sucks about the whole process. They could at least inform these longer cases what the heck is going on, for piece of mind at the least.

Yep and I'm a Los Angeles native, medical professional. You would think if I am eligible to get a medical license, I should be able to pass their background check, lol, but who knows what's taking them to long. Perhaps this is part of the extreme vetting process.

But important to stay positive during this process. It's good to have this board to vent and celebrate other people's approvals!

Want to come party it up in Los Angeles once your K-1 is in hand? Add your name to the list (everyone is welcome)! :jest:

Blah. I have global entry so I've already passed one federal background check, interview and fingerprints. I'm sure their systems are all in silos and don't talk to each other.

We'll get there soon enough. :)  Yay for more Angelenos!

I suppose I got lucky because they did tell me they were waiting on our backgrounds. I also realized My birthday wrong on the application, made the correction, received an acknowledgment of the change and my background was completed apparently cause I got my RFE a couple of days later. Who knows🤔

January 8th acknowledgement of birthday change.

January11th RFE.

Its happening to me too - probably just a site error :-)

Hey. How long does it take from transit to ready ? Did you book your interview before you got ready ? Can I do that too or does it depend on the country. Thank you and hope everything goes well.

Possible, they also sometimes just say they're waiting on backgrounds (I saw some people got that one and next day they learnt they were already approved. However if your file was already in backgrounds for real, that's when they were waiting for it to return to make the update. (Just guesses obviously)

the birthdate thing is interesting though, when did you ask them to change?

Same here, I’m a medical professional so can’t have a license if I had a record!

Our case was in transit Thursday end of day EST (I guess, because I saw it my Friday morning), as became ready Friday morning EST (just after my lunch break). Could've easily missed it, if I hadn't checked the case tracker on my Friday morning.

As for interview etc, seems like the embassy in Casablanca sends a packet 3 with instructions. You need to wait for that. See VJ embassy info here: http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Morocco&cty=Casablanca

For other Casablanca info see here: https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/iv-dv-supplemental/CSB_Casablanca.pdf

Edit to add: I'm still not entirely sure whether all cases are electronic (so forwarded from NVC to embassy digitally). I know ours was based on the speed. However, if they do still send hard copies to other embassies, the transit time will of course be longer.
