Registering for courier service/appointment

On step 1 of the interview instructions it reads " Register your interview appointment online with our free courier service before attending the visa interview" I went through the link to register my appointment. When I went through all the appropriate boxes such as passport number, ds 260, I submitted the information and an error message came back. It said my case number is not ready to be scheduled an interview (even though it said click here to register appointment). I have an interview scheduled but cannot for the life of me figure out how to do it.

If you are CR1/IR1:

Do you have to register for courier service?

Do you have to register your appointment online with the consulate?

You register for courier service only because your interview is set by the NVC

I know it a silly website and always has been.

Thank you @NikLR as always!

I sent an email  to the help desk and they said "Please check back our system in 5 to 10 business days. Your case will then be available to register."

I am just guessing but with my interview being booked yesterday they must not have my case # in Montreal yet. The field where I entered the MTL number said it was not recognized.

Oh you must wait until CEAC says ready before you can register for courier service.  It takes a few days ro a week for the NVC to send your file to Montreal.  Only once it is there and they have it in their system can you register for courier services.

Congrats on your interview date!

You are welcome.  It is stressful and I had help which is why I stuck around too.

I went online tonight to register my consulate appointment and courier services and it worked both times! You were right! I guess they first have to get the file before you can do it. It took only 24 hours but will mention it in case any eager beavers like me do this in the future.
