I tried to find this topic and couldn't find it anywhere. I saw in a different thread that a lot of people got their NOA 2 in January 2018. This is for all the IR-1/CR-1 applicants who got their approval of form I-130 from uscis service centers in Jan 2018 and are waiting for the NVC process to begin! Lets share our news and give each other hope and support each other!

Form I-130 sent to Chicago lockbox from where ir was transferred to texas service center

NOA-1 June 16, 2017

NOA-2 January 4, 2018

Called NVC today, (I knew it was a long shot but just wanted to do something rather than sitting around and waiting , for my peace of mind) the agent said it takes up to six weeks for them to receive it from the service centers and another two weeks to get a case number assigned.

call USCIS and ask to speak to a tier 2 representative and get confirmation that your package has been physically sent to NVC. I received my NOA2 on 11/18/2017 but USCIS didnt send my file to NVC until dec 27. and then arrived at NVC jan 3. I'm not sure how much of a difference it will make by calling USCIS but I hope in doing so they'll send your case to NVC right away like your NOA2 says.

Our petition was approved January 10, 2018. 01/10/2018, from Texas Service Center.

Anyone have any idea how long it normally takes before I hear something?

& what exactly will I hear?

Thanks for any responses in advance.

The person I talked to at the NVC said it takes upto six weeks for them to receive it from USCIS and another two weeks for them to assign a case number. My plan is to call NVC again this week and find out if they received it, if not call USCIS to fin out when or if my case was sent to NVC like someone suggested. When they have a case number assigned, we can give them our email addresses so our correspondence could be through email...anyone else, correct me if I am wrong about any of this info

Thanks for answering that. I'll be calling on Monday morning if there's nothing in my mailbox from them when I get home tonight.

  • 2 months later...

Hi Guys,

This is my first post in this group and I need some suggestion.

1. I came to US in Feb 2017 on B2(Visitor) visa to visit my family. I often come to US for 6 months in US almost every year. My I-94 expiry date was Aug 2017. I was taken to secondary inspection at POE regarding my frequent visits.

2. I met my husband in May 2017. He was a Green card holder. We decided to get married and filed for my B2 extension and I-130 for Consular processing. Since then I am in US. I have not received any decision on my first extension so after 6 months I filed for my 2nd B2 visa extension so that I can stay in US. In the meantime my husband filed for his citizenship and today 04/06/2018, he becomes the citizen and I become his Immediate relative.

All the above processing was done by our attorney till date except my husband's citizenship process (which we had done ourselves)

Now here is the current situation.

1. I had filed my I-130 petition in F2A category. My PD is July 25, 2017. There is no NOA2 received yet.

2. Now I have become an immediate relative that means I don't have to wait for my date to be current and I can file AOS and packet IV.

I want to know where should I send my papers to upgrade my application. USCIS or directly to NVC?

I want to submit all my papers myself instead of going through an attorney as I already gave the hefty amount to him and there is an additional cost which is equivalent to the fees he is asking.

Please advise.

You can't submit your AOS and Iv packets until your I 130 is approved by USCIS, then sent to NVC and NVC assigns u a case number, then you pay the the fees and THEN submit your packets. I dont know much about the other stuff u said here but I dont think you can convert a non-immigrant visa to a immigrant visa while remaining in the US
