U.S. Department of State–National Visa Center: Processing of immigration visa applications at the NVC will likely continue, as those functions are funded by contract and not a direct federal appropriation.

Something I picked up on reddit from someone that was actually verified as a DHS/USCIS employee: whilst they are largely unaffected by the shutdown, overtime has been cancelled. So yes, they are still operating, but things are going to slow down (more than they have done already) until an appropriation is enacted.

As an FYI,

TSA, ATC and other FAA etc, are all working without pay.  So if you are flying, be nice, they aren't being paid to work at this time.

Just read in a CNN story that whilst USCIS remains mostly open, the CIS Ombudsman is not. So there will be no case assistance from them until funding resumes.

I just received (on the 18th) my NOA2. As far as I know now the USCIS should send my case to the NVC.
Do you think that the government shutdown will affect me?

Hy Guys 

There is a Lot of discussion  going on about the gov shutdown and affect on Immigration department . 

So i think this is a appropriate answer to this question. 

Even some articles are saying that Gov shutdown will delay immigration department work upto 30 days but i dont think soo after discussing with a lot of guys. 

Any info you have than please post here
