 it may affect obviously if it continues too long but these actually happen every 2 years and usually ends pretty quickly.

 

 So I don't want to panic over it, that's why if you see any other info too let's gather it here. ;)

If the building the service is located in is funded by a department that is shutdown then it will have an impact as well.

A shutdown would affect the processing of visas. 

 

The deadline is midnight tonight. Right now I'd say there's a 50-50 chance of it happening. For some reason the US seems to think these kinds of brinksmanship deals are a good idea.

Will that have an effect on people who applied for the k-1? I applied in Oct. I am waiting for my NO2.

I wouldn't worry about it. They're barely processing July cases right now. You're months away from getting ajudicated so this will likely be resolved before they even touch August and September cases.
