Meanwhile, arrests INSIDE the US are up by 25%.  Granted, some of those have been here for years.  But until BOTH numbers are trending downward, we are not winning.

I was the one who said ALL and I am correcting it but already had posted  the video clip where we hear him speak.

 He did not say all but he said "some, I assume are good people." Note...he has to assume....not really be sure about it that some are good people.

Some is a small amount which would imply the majority are composed of rapists.
Bottom line, that remark is still a terrible thing to say about Mexico.

The point of me initially posting this was to remind a poster who claimed the media was focusing on brown people, that the media only
reports what Trump speaks and tweets. That point got lost in the 'all' which I own as my oversight.
To focus on the word ALL rather than on the targeted 'majority' of Trump's remark, doesn't really deserve a cookie.

It is implied that he thinks that at least the majority of the people "Mexico is sending" (does he think the government is sending us people?) are criminals or rapists. Some, "he assumes" are good. The way he says it makes it pretty clear that he thinks at least a majority (but not all) are bad. The word some, when applied to the "good people" also implies a minority for that group.

 

Of course there are rapist and criminals coming from Mexico, and I'm sure everyone here would like to see those people stay out. But Trump didn't say that Mexico was sending good people, though some are rapists/criminals. He said they are bad, but "some" are good. His implication was quite clear.

Maybe he does think it's the government that lines people up and sends them with a suit case to come here. 
I always found that so bizarre but then what part of his ramblings aren't ?!

Ya I think he rambles enough that we can't really draw anything from it.

 

Anyone who wants to argue that his message wasn't that most illegal immigrants from Mexico are rapists, gang members, criminals etc... are just kidding themselves and have fanboy glasses on. He didn't preface it with "Some are rapists". He just said "they are sending their rapists etc...". The only "some" preface was for "good people", and it was quite clear in context that he meant a small number may be good (he assumes).

 

Now as for the truth of the statement? I have no idea and I'd be making an assumption to argue one way or another. Someone would have to provide data on illegal immigrants from Mexico and their criminal history. Obviously some are bad, but is it the majority? I'm sure someone has studied it (and I'm guessing the answer is no, but that would just be a guess).

Come on we should at least all be able to agree that both candidates (one of which is the current President) are untrustworthy and frequent liars. We can get into an argument about who lies more, and for what reasons (Big lies vs. "white lies")...but they are both pretty dishonest people.

I'm just saying neither one are particularly honest people. We can argue about who is worst, but Boiler's post made it sound like we only ALMOST had a lying, dishonest President when in reality we have one now. We would have had one regardless of who won the election.
