No, the media is repeating what Trump says.
The media did not say all Mexicans are rapists, Trump did.
Media repeated it. His tweet-policy says so.

The media repeated what Trump said. The media did not say it first, Trump did and the media reported it.
What are you nitpicking about ? I was not wrong.

Only problem is it's not true. He never said that

You are all over the place and I really don't get the context and point of your comments.
I am sure the red states themselves admit to poor people and bad areas, that is just a fact, left or right, poor people are in both, red and blue states.
Every country has it's bad areas and poor people so what else is new ?
Besides the US having poor people it is still a great country, if you don't like it then why not move somewhere that better fits your needs and expectations ?
I suppose you have not been to Rwanda to understand the bad areas there. I could find a youtube about it too but fail to see the point of country bashing
because all countries have their good and bad things in which the human race lives.
Infrastructure is crumbling yes, Trump's campaign  promise was to change that. I have not seen him doing anything about it.
All that you mentioned is not a single reason to have a merit system. The poor, the "trashy", the infrastructure, Amtrak, the left's borrowed lingo,
I fail to understand what that has to do with the price of tea in China.

Basically for a First World Country USA, itself have many ____holes that it should try to fix first.

The country needs to help its own first, period.

My definition of a great country perhaps does not coincide with your definition. That's fine.

You don't have to tell people who don't like it here to move away.

I am here to stay, Hence I hope US could do more and fix its own problems.

I feel shocked and bad to see those junk-yard looking rural places, homeless people tents on the outskirts of the cities.

Very simple as that.

Of course, nothing really much is being done due to both sides constant politicking.

I am for Merit-based immigration, to pick the best of people REGARDLESS of COLORS, to help US to grow and improve, not simply because so and so has some relatives in US.

Merit-based immigration will benefit those highly educated people from 3rd world countries.

Oh, in case you still think that I am implying your Africa is ______, I am actually agreed with you that Africa is sending their best educated people to US.

Merit-based immigration will benefit these people too.

Is it morally right to say strip third word countries of Doctors and Nurses when they are already very short of such expertise and they have spent relatively large sums training therm?

I disagree with the thought that the country needs to fix it's OWN first. There will always be poor people no matter what you do.
A good start would be universal health care and decent mental health care (which is not on the republicans agenda) to get the homeless some help.
I did not tell you bluntly to move away. I was very nice about it and since you were downing this country I thought you hated to live here and
suggested to find a better fit for your expectation elsewhere.
Some homeless people do not want anyone's help, though many do and many have mental illnesses.
There are displaced veterans, homeless family who for one reason or another lost their homes and people who had to choose between
a home and paying hospital bills. Believe it or not but immigrants with their entrepreneurial spirit have opened businesses and hired homeless
Americans. It takes diversity to make this country function well.
Merit based immigration will cause brain drain for the countries the highly educated are leaving.
We also need workers and entrepreneurs and small businesses in our communities and factories for which no special degree is needed.
The service industry and agricultural sector needs immigrants also, especially for those jobs Americans refuse to do but prefer to collect welfare checks.
When the undocumented fled the fields in the south big farms were left with a rotten harvest everywhere around for miles.
I am not advocating for coming here undocumented at all but using it as an example to show that our current legal workers aren't enough.
What American will go into the fields and pick tomatoes day in and day out ?
We already have a process in place for highly skilled professionals who benefit which balances out with other types of visas for those we need in other sectors.
Shut off one or the other and you will cause problems. Again, diversity is the key that made America.
In a bee hive there aren't just queens or just workers. It takes all kinds for a well oiled machine and everyone has a place for a different part,
we can't all be brain surgeons nor should be offer merit based immigration. The less educated, less skilled are needed just as much to contribute than
the highly educated and skilled in ways you may never have thought about before.

Very simple. For me human beings currently under DACA protective status are more important than that dang 18 billion wall Mexico will not pay for.
Having said that border security is important but that the republicans play pawn with human beings under DACA status as a bargain chip is well simply deplorable.
We are at a 46 year low in border crossings, even Trump and his braggadocius claim to have single handedly brought this number down and has increased
BP admits it is not the problem it once was. So which is it ? An Apocalypse disaster or the lowest ever (in history of the whole entire world) ?
Research the umpteen articles easily found that point to stats of crossings are down. Wall not needed, I would as I said before go for better tech tools to help
BP agents do their job efficiently rather than running up and down a fence /  wall 24/7. Oh wait it's supposed to be a see through wall so maybe they should get better
binoculars.
I have to disappoint you that I simply do not share your priorities. Past history shows number are at the lowest in decades.

Ummm, not quite high speed.  We are a a 57-year low for ARRESTS while illegally crossing the border.  That could well mean that illegals are getting better at crossing without getting caught.

Meanwhile, arrests INSIDE the US are up by 25%.  Granted, some of those have been here for years.  But until BOTH numbers are trending downward, we are not winning.

Quote

Arrests of people trying to cross illegally into the U.S. from Mexico plunged to the lowest level since 1971, as fewer people attempted the trek, the Department of Homeland Security announced Tuesday.

Meanwhile, immigration arrests in the interior of the country increased by 25 percent, the data show.

Are some illegal Mexican immigrants rapists, yes or no?  Are some drug dealers, yes or no?  Are some murderers, yes or no?

As to your trying to back up the false statement on the page previous to your post about Trump calling all Mexicans rapists, Politifact says this:

Our ruling

Trump has roiled emotions with his debunked claims that the Mexican government is sending "rapists" and other violent criminals into the U.S. as unauthorized immigrants."

Kaine has embellished the controversy by saying Trump has said "all Mexicans are rapists." The Democrat doesn’t come close to proving his claim; all of the Trump quotes Kaine’s campaign sent us pertain to unauthorized immigrants crossing the Mexican border into the U.S.

No doubt, many Latinos have taken umbrage with what Trump actually has said. But Kaine put an insult into the mouth of Trump that never was uttered.

His exact quote was:

“When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best,” he said in the same speech. “They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”

It is implied that he thinks that at least the majority of the people "Mexico is sending" (does he think the government is sending us people?) are criminals or rapists. Some, "he assumes" are good. The way he says it makes it pretty clear that he thinks at least a majority (but not all) are bad. The word some, when applied to the "good people" also implies a minority for that group.

Of course there are rapist and criminals coming from Mexico, and I'm sure everyone here would like to see those people stay out. But Trump didn't say that Mexico was sending good people, though some are rapists/criminals. He said they are bad, but "some" are good. His implication was quite clear.

You took a lot of words to confirm he didn't say all, thanks for the support. I was right
