So no VJ?

Nobody who was brought up in country xxxx should just have to leave the only country they have ever known?

Sounds a bit weird.

No you shouldn't HAVE to leave when you had no choice in the matter of where you were raised.  Thats why there are regulations regarding who is eligible for DACA.

Choosing to leave said country, thus VJ, is obviously okay.

If you have no right to citizenship, then if you choose to leave or break the laws, that country does not have to allow you to stay or return.

Of course VJ would happen, otherwise I would be further north in more snow and you would be in the UK.  LOL

I think we need to stop the flow first, then we can tackle this small population.  I am fine with DACA, but maybe make it a permenant residency with no path to citizenship under this program.  If they change status through a family change, then fine.  They should also have to tell INS who brought them here illegally.

Good Morale Character requirement, should include helping the Authorities track down Criminals.

Turn in their parents? Didn't they already do that when they applied for DACA?  I know people under DACA.  They certainly don't have permanent residency.  They have work permits that need to be reapplied for and have to apply in advance for permission to leave the USA.

Not really... did you have a choice in where you lived? I sure didn't have a choice then.

It may not seem FAIR, but it is the LAW.  I think a lot of you people who think DACA folks should just get to stay should go on an adventure.  Maybe a group one.  Pick a foreign country (other than the US), enter illegally, then try to get citizenship there.  Let’s see how that works for you.

I remember when my wife first got here and we got married, HR and the local rep for the insurance company said we needed a SSN to sign her up. They got educated in federal law quickly.

As well they should get educated! It neverendingly irks me how many HR and reps continue to make downright illegal demands from customers. If there's a poster here that's being told they need an SSN to have health insurance - I suggest reading federal law and ask them if they really want to continue breaking it.

That is not at all what I said. I simply asked if people who came here illegally aren't illegal aliens what are they? I would actually support a reasonable solution allowing people brought here as children to stay but some conditions have to be met. First of all they should have to prove they were brought here as children and have been here long enough to establish a life here. Secondly no one gets to stay who has a criminal record. Third something has to be done to stop this disaster from happening in the future. Finally anyone wanting to stay has to go through the same application process any other potential immigrant goes through (a temporary visa could be granted during the application process). If those conditions are met I support allowing some daca recipients to stay. If not I don't.
