OLD arrest records

I am filling out an I-129-F.  In 1988, I was arrested for DUI.  Since my blood alcohol was damn near 0.0, (I had drank one beer, and it was American beer) the chargers were dropped when I went to court and I was only cited for a routine traffic violation.

I am listing this arrest on my I-129F.  Here is my question.

How critical are arrest and court records?   If I submit my I-129F with an explanation of the events, will that be sufficient, or will my application be denied or submitted for an RFE if those records are not included?   Does the fact that the arrest was 29 years ago decrease the need for full documentation in the eyes of the people who process these applications?

I spoke to the associated government entities today and it looks like it might be as much as a month before they can produce records or produce a statement that the records no longer exist.

Arrest records are pretty important. You could try submitting it with an explanation stating it's old and no records are available.

However, they'll probably want proof it was dropped.

I would answer truthfully and state the charges were dropped.  They may not care after seeing the date and outcome. I think they have access to see the charges and disposition as well. Caught in a lie is worse.
