obama is as muslim as trump is christian. anyway..

why do we need government to protect that run of the mill doctor from having to treat kids with two moms? is trump just tossing a bone to the fundies that proclaimed him the new messiah or is he starting construction on the new religious wing of the swamp for his own beliefs (lol)?

Tossing a bone. It will be for the courts anyway

NB: If you feel that a doctor refusing to treat a child of a gay parent is discriminatory, then you need to ask why is the HHS sec advocating their right to do so? Why do we need a new branch of government department to allow them to do so?

Because if we go this route, as they certainly intend to, this is what will happen.

I thought American government doesn't interfere with religion? Or is supposed not too.

To me it's pretty clear, if something is against your beliefs, don't work there. I'm sure there are other places.

However, it's fascinating that this administration is now facilitating this. I wonder if they will allow a male Muslim doctor to refuse to treat females ( as example).

I don’t think this would ever be an issue.  Aren’t male muslims are allowed to have as many women as they want?

No, they can have "just" four and they have to treat them equally. Plus they have to be married to those four, no fooling around before the vows.

I'm talking about patients, you know that.

and that is the slippery slope you slide into. Places that provide abortions are not very many. Seems simple, dont go to work there.

Now say.. A woman receives an abortion and later comes into the ER, with complications. If you refuse to treat them, I have a huge problem with that.

Same thing with Target. You know they sell pork. If it offends you that bad, dont go to work there.

as much trouble as one wife is, who in their right mind would want 4.

i don't see them as equal. and scanning pork isn't ingesting pork but that's a battle for target and their cashiers. what i'm talking about is the united states government creating a department to protect healthcare workers who refuse to treat certain people based on their personal beliefs.

think if obama had created a department within the fda to protect jewish cashiers from ringing up non kosher foods.

so if the clerks should be allowed to not touch pork and keep their job, should someone be allowed to not make a cake for a gay wedding, based on their religion

not all abortions are elective. that's the real slippery slope if you ask me.

and we're not even talking about a doctor refusing to perform an abortion, the example given was a nurse refusing aftercare to a woman.

and really selling pork, liquor, whatever..that's all retail nonsense. the department of health and human services creating a department to protect healthcare workers perceived right to 'deny' health and human services is whole different ballgame.

no one is going to bleed out and die if they can't get a cashier to ring up their bacon.

Agreed. It's about making choices, and personally I think people should believe what ever they want, and follow what ever rules. But also realize that their choices might cause them not to be hireable at certain places, and as long as they are ok with that, they are fine.

I have no clue, I would do something I can't write down here if my husband would mention that he thinks another woman is cute, let alone marry her.:jest:

My question on the Nurse would be..Was she working at a facility that provided abortion care or was she in an ER type scenario

Exactly. You cant dismiss the doctor making choices on religion but support a clerk making choices on religion as relevant.

Kind of like Gay Marriage. I have no problem with it and support that right for people. However if the Govt ever tried to force a church to provide gay marriages, I would go to war against that
