I tend to agree that the president has no real direct impact on the economy, but certainly they play a role in building the economic optimism which can be just as important.

Unemployment rate in Midland, TX has been cited at 2.8% (heard on radio today).  That qualifies as full employment and might even be a dangerously low level.  One company flies in workers from Houston every week.

One big item I can tag to Obama was when he promised to skyrocket electricity prices in a way to drive folks to "green" energy.  Not a lot of folks were inspired economically by that promise.

Well the stock market actually started trending upward in march 2009, two months after Obama came into office. One, then, could argue, that it was thanks to Bush(same as people saying the first year of Trump is thanks to Obama).

 

Bush, Obama, Trump, to me any argument that any president moves the stock market is just as ridiculous.

  Yeah that's true. I'm not saying anything's thanks to Obama or Bush though. I'm just not sure what the point is behind satire that's not rooted in reality.  We know the economy did not continue to trend down through 2016.
