The US Embassy received my petition on the 27th of December, after it was approved on the 30th of October. It came to me by mail on the 4th of January about what to do next where I saw in the top corner that it is valid for four months and only two months of it is left. So on the 28th of Feburary it is going to expire, is there a way I can extend this? I have filled out my DS-160 and gonna start getting the rest of my parts together. My Fiance was going to come over to the UK at the end of August as we were gonna go on a trip to Greece before I went back with her at the start of September. With that in mind, knowing the medical exam is only valid for six months, I was hoping to have that done by around the end of April, putting it under six months, and then the interview shortly after this. But with the petition expiring on the 28th of Feburary I'm worried this won't be possible.

Any advice of what can be done? Ideally we don't want to have to bring our dates forward because we've already made arrangements to go on that trip with my family. I'm sure there's a way to make this work but it would be easier if someone could explain for me please.

If your interview is not done before the expiration date, you can contact the embassy to ask them to extend it :)

For my I-129F, K-1, AOS, EAD, AP and ROC detailed timelines, please refer to my timeline page :)

ROC filed on December 1, 2020, assigned to SRC, approved within 106 days on February 18, 2021.

My sincerest gratitude to all VJers, especially the late geowrian.

Easy peasy for London. You don't have to contact the embassy. If your petition is expired, all you do is bring a new letter of intent from your fiancé to the interview so they know he is still keen on marrying you. It will say he remains free to marry and intends to marry you within 90 days of your admission to the US on a fiancé visa. You can stall a year if you need to.

Thanks a bunch, only just seen this. Seems I'm having to do a lot of waiting as I just tried booking my medical but they told me to ring them back at the end of next month as they don't do it that far in advance.

Just got out of my interview, I believe it went well apart from one hiccup. I forgot to bring a copy of my letter of intent with me. The embassy did send me a letter a while ago to give them a new one and I did by email, thinking that would be that. I knew I should have bought a copy with me since they didn't have my letter in my file. At the end I had to get back on my phone and forward it to the same email address, but how would I know if they actually bother to print it out this time? I only get the automated response. Now I'm in London panicking my skin off because I'm fearful this has messed things up royally.

On another note they gave me my x-ray back and it had a tear on the envelope, and staples to keep the x-ray in place I guess. Should this concern me? They also got my age wrong listing me as 28, when I'm 26 and my D.O.B is on the damned thing.

You don't need the X-ray again. No concerns with it's packaging or labeling.

One less thing to worry about with the X-Ray.

I have emailed them my letter of intent twice yesterday, to the same email address I sent it to in the first place and the same one my interviewer wrote down. I got the automated response, but I also contacted the department through their FAQ email. A person got back to me on that said they wouldn't normally routinely confirm reciept of documents, however they did confirm to have received the documentation. Although I'm still confused/worried because the usvisa-info website is still saying to send documents, but it has a green tick meaning it's done? It only changed to that when I clicked continue and it took me through to the courier page, do I still need to send it through the courier?

And I thought this was supposed to be easy

Oh I'm so glad someone else was dealing with the same issue that we are! Ours will be expired only for a few weeks once we have the interview for my fiancé! But i was trying to figure out what to do! So I'm glad it's as easy as just doing another fiancé letter of intent form! Also thanks for the updates!

You may get something in the post asking for an updated letter, which you can do. But don't make the same mistake as me and take a printed copy with you just to be sure. Luckily they seemed to get my email when I sent it again and I got the news today that my visa has been issued, so everything worked out.
