Hi guys! My fiancé from Brazil and I were able to send our I-129F in yesterday and are now awaiting the NOA1, can someone kind of give me an explanation and run down of what all happens next from here on out? I know we await the NOA2 and then what? Also, what can I be doing in the meantime to be prepared for the next step?  Is there something that needs to be brought to his interview in Brazil? I also know I will need to fill out the afadavit of support, would I send this to my fiancé to take to the interview or??

Thanks for the help guys!!

Thanks for the help guys!!

You will get NOA1 soon.  After that...

7 to 8 months for NOA2

6 to 8 weeks for USCIS to send files to NVC

2 to 4 weeks at NVC

10 to 45 days for interview

1 to 2 weeks for VOH

POE!

During the long wait get police certificates and any other country specific requirements done.  Mostly,  just relax.  This is not going to be fast, fun or easy.  Keep your focus on your partner, not the process.

Come to these forums because there is more support here than you can imagine.  Find the January 2018 filer thread.

This is an 11 or 12 month journey right now.  We all hope it gets better.  Try not to stress.

My fiance is also from Brazil!  John & Rose said it just how it is, so I won't repreat it, but I will say the big thing that you and your fiance need to do is be strong for one another, support each other and, don't less the stress get the both of you.  Be confident!  My fiance and I turned in our application last August, and were still waiting for the NOA2.  Also, do come here for the support.  We're all here for each other.  Cheers!

I just got admonished for being too negative. What a strange place. Lol. I just try to always be honest and I do pray and hope things go quicker.  Those are good estimates right now. Hopefully things pick up!

I never saw myself as negative.  I guess if you dont like the message you should kill the messenger.  Now they believe there is no way POE will take 10 months...but it already does.  I am so confused!  LOL

I hope there is a log jam that gets worked through because these delays are tough.

not negative at all

it is taking that long or longer

it is a hard journey / if it was easy we wouldnt need help

just need to keep the romance in the relationship because when you enter a marriage by this venue,  you face issues with immigration that are so serious it takes the romance out of "courting"  old fashion term but we all do it by actually dating or online chats

this is mostly hard because u hear absolutely nothing and wait daily for any mail or email and a response

just encourage each other and be patient

Hey! I actually have another question, it's just a silly small one. We received the text message today that they received our packet. I was just wondering for our VJ timeline, do we enter the date for the NOA1 as today the day we received the text or the day that we receive the actual letter of the NOA1? :P

Thanks!!!

There should be a date on the letter. It will say “On January XX, we received your...

the date are on the letter is what you should use. That is the received date.
