I am a United States Citizen and my husband is Canadian. We were married in Canada Sept. 7th, 2014. We started the immigration process 4/2015. Without the help of Visa Journey, we would have been so lost. The forms, the filings, and the fees. we would have never been able to keep it all straight. My husband had his interview in Montreal 6/2016, it was approved shortly after. His passport was stamped with his new temp visa and life was good. We were told to wait 90 days for his green card. In the meantime, his SSI card came, but no green card. USCIS told us to wait longer. 120 days and still nothing. Several trips to the USCIS office in Phoenix with no one knowing where his green card was. Eventually, they said it had never been printed, next it was that his paperwork was lost, and finally, they said the sealed envelope that was given when he entered the US had never made it the service center in Texas. We would have to start all over.

Because I was told to keep copies of everything by Visa Journey I had everything that was needed. We resubmitted everything at the USCIS office here in Phoenix 11/2017 and waited. Today we received an appointment to have his BIOMETRICS taken, fingerprinted, and a criminal FBI background check. We have been told to hurry up and wait so many times that, only to find out its because someone had lost our paperwork ~ AGAIN ~

We will show up on the 2nd of February and do as they have requested, again, but seriously is this how it's done? Has anyone else run into this? And we wonder what is next ...

I would rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not ...

This might be a stupid question, but....you did pay the green card fee before he entered the US?

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

😎  not a stupid question,  yes we did... interview Aug 16 2016, fee paid Aug 18 2016, entered Sept 2 2016.  Husband's GC arrived September 30th, 2016,  mine finally turned up April 10th 2017.

OK.  Thanks.......I wonder the same concerning the OP.  Since only the SS card arrived.

I am pretty sure USCIS sends a letter after maybe 4 months after POE if the fee hasn't been paid....

And the fact that SSA sent the  ss card means that someone,  somewhere,  after POE, knew to trigger this... surely they had to have the paperwork to do this !!!!!

My thoughts were that if the GC fee was never paid, the SS card would be generated, but the GC itself would never be created........but you are correct.  I seem to remember someone receiving one of those letters  after a few months......Thanks.

Yes, we paid the fee and have the receipt for it. We have all the receipts. We kind of thought it odd that his social security card came, he applied for it at his entry but no GC ever showed up.

I wouldn't even know what to say to a state senator because so far USCIS is "still working on it" only we are talking 2 and a half years of working on it.

If you have a biometrics appointment, then things are progressing as they are intended, at this point.  Sometimes papers get lost.  It happens, but fortunately, it's rare.  Good luck moving forward.

I will look up the senator that I would need to contact if things go south again. We received an appointment for out 2nd Biometrics appointment for 2/2/2018, also informing us that we will need to pay the $80 fee AGAIN.
