Hey everyone,

My husband and i applied for his AOS

We started filing on October 2017 and then we heard back from USCIS two weeks(if that long) after we sent the forms. So the process was going well, he even had an appointment for his biometrics on Nov 1. Then after that maybe a week after that's when we received the request for initial evidence. So we filled another form and attached the appropriate documents a week after receiving the request... So far we haven't heard back from USCIS starting they received our documents. This is going on two months and we don't won't it to go past the expiration date we received. So if anyone can help us understand why its taking so long❓

The same happened to us. If it has been over 60 days since you sent your response back to USCIS, you can raise a service request online or by calling them.

When you receive a RFE and reply to it, doesnt it go back under the pile again? And it starts from day 1 again? Correct me if I am wrong anyone.

I received RFIE too. It took about 4.5 months to get my EAD approved. Plus, I did request help from congressional office, otherwise it might have taken longer.

So my gut feeling is, yes, it does affect the process as they don't process your application until they receive it again, so at least the time when they wait for your response will cause delay. USCIS representative told me that they do give response in 75 days after receiving your response. So you can count from that date.

But looking at a big picture, it's normal now that it takes 4-5 months for EAD approval. If you do have a pending offer letter, I would suggest contact congress office. SR didn't help much for me. The notice they send from SR is vague, basically telling you to wait.

I have done two service request regarding my EAD and not heard a thing back. It is very annoying. How do I get in contact with the congress office? (I have never heard of this)
I applied for my EAD in August.

Honestly, I really don't think SR helps..also do not raise multiple SR as they might cancel the very first one that you made (that's what they did to mine), you will end up waiting longer.

You can find you local representative by entering your zip code through the website below. Congress office can contact National Benefit Center directly. I started with giving their office a call, and I got lucky the officer helped me all the way out.

Thank you so much for this information.
Do you know if they normally help with GC as well? My husband is deploying soon with the military and I will probably be called for my GC interview while he is away :(
