Inexpensive I-693 doctor in Illinois recommendations?

Not in the same boat with you, but a Td booster should be given every 10 years, so you will likely need to get that.

Otherwise, you can call around to find the cheapest CS, then asked if they can let you know the vaccines requirement.

As a 23 y.o., I needed Tdap, MMR, Varicella, and Flu shot (Oct - Mar). My CS only asked if I've had chicken pox and I said yes, then I got to skip varicella. Have you ever received MMR?

Flu shot might be cheaper in Walgreens/grocery stores.

I emailed my doctor in England and this is what they replied in regards to my vaccinations. Would a doctor accept this email as evidence that I had the vaccinations?

It was from an email address ending in @nhs.net which is the national health service in England. They hold all medical information for all UK citizens.

9F17D098-E626-40D9-AD74-1B44D7479EEF.png

It is very possible that a civil surgeon will accept this information. All it does useful is shows you had DIPTHERIA/TETANUS/PERTUSSIS in 1993 so will need a top up of Td instead of Tdap (because you have the P covered for a lifetime.)

For immigration you will need:

MMR

Td

Flu

Varicella (or tell them you had Chickenpox to get it waived)

You may get shots anywhere if you find a place cheaper than the civil surgeons office. Try drug stores or the county health department. Get written documentation to take to you medical exam. You need a full exam with blood work and TB skin test. Get on the phone and call every civil surgeon office within your area and ask "how much do you charge for a full immigration medical?". Then ask "how much is a Td shot...MMR shot...Flu shot?"  It's a bunch of calling you need to do if your intent is to do price comparisons and save money.

Had you gotten a visa, you would have had to travel to London to a private clinic and pay £300 for an exam. Some get shots at their GP free on NHS and some GPs charge for them since they are for immigration. You skipped the visa, but you don't get to skip the medical part of immigration. Good luck finding a cheaper  civil surgeon.

I would doubt they would take an email without a MD signature on it. It would typically need to be a formalized record but it is worth a try.

If you do need vaccinations they can add to the price of the physical exam also.  Unfortunately immigration and healthcare are both expensive. My husband spent over $400 in Australia on his civil surgeon appointment for his K1.

I will tell you the same thing I told my husband. Make a copy of your vaccinations after your appointment (or ask for a copy for your personal records). I have needed to provide my records over and over again between college, graduate degrees and every employer I have worked for. It's a lot easier to know where to find it the second time around.

OP is from the UK so a TB skin test would pointless, I would take it that you avoided much of the time and cost so just bite this one.

I would assume that they would require a chest x-ray upon examination for Tb. My husband from Australia was required to get an x-ray instead of a skin TB test. I work in health care and had many co-workers that are required an x-ray to clear them of TB.

In the US there isn't a tuberculosis vaccine, maybe there is one in the United Kingdom (?). As a healthcare worker I get tested yearly for TB through a one step or two step test. Many people have false positives for these tests so the ultimate tool to clear someone of tb is a chest x-ray. Also having a skin test requires a follow up with a nurse or a doctor and it isn't always reliable, hence the chest x-ray.

Yes, in the UK we have a vaccine called the BCG. It protects against TB. I had it done, it lasts a lifetime

Yes - there is a TB vaccination in the UK which is why for the UK medical everyone has an x-ray - no matter whether they can prove they had the TB vaccination or not - there is no point doing any kind of skin test, OP would just get a false positive.

That is really interesting and good to know. I thought it was interesting my husband received a chest x-ray for his medical screen so that likely explains the reason.

Nope, I spoke to the receptionist at my doctors office and I was told they have no official transcript. They said they could only send me that email.

i noticed there are many different types of titer tests. How do I know which one I need?

Would having an official letter from my doctor confirming the vaccinations I had, scanned to me also work?

An official letter from your GP confirming vaccinations and dates administered might work but as far as I know it needs to be an original with a wet signature to be accepted. The vaccination record will be completed by the General Surgeon as part of the medical exam so it is up to him/her what will he/she accept. You will need to consult with whoever you choose to perform your medical exam with and they will be able to advise you as to the best way forward. That’s my advice!

A few comments I have.

Mum's word doesn't count on MMR. Does she have your little red immunisation book? Something from school or the doctor?

I would certainly try the email record from your GP despite what others think. Civil surgeons accept photocopies of of the vaccination page from fiancé visa medicals. They accept NHS print outs that have no signature. It's all you have and looks official. Go for it. It's up to the doctor you see as TandD2016 said.

Tuberculosis.

A BCG shot does not prove you are TB free. No need to have a written record of that. It may or may not make you show positive on a skin test.

An exam abroad by a panel physician has a chest x-ray. You're not seeing a panel physician. An exam in the US by a civil surgeon includes a TB skin test. That started around summer 2008. So you will have a skin test and go back 2-3 days later to have the results read. If the red circle on your arm is larger than 5mm, they have to give you a chest x-ray to check for TB. You might get a big red circle simply because of the BCG shot. Or not. But that is the procedure. There is also a blood test civil surgeons may use instead of the skin test as the first level of checking for TB. His choice, but either may or may not show false positive. Some from the UK say they did not react despite having BCG.
