There is no US Consulate in Northern Ireland. (There is in Edinburgh, but it doesn't process visas.)  And, the Embassy in London does process visas.  So, I'm not sure what you mean by your first statement.

https://uk.usembassy.gov/embassy-consulates/belfast/

In London you go into the Consulate for a Visa, I assume it has not changed with the move, the Embassy was in the same building.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Sorry re Belfast....I spaced on that.  But, it would not be going to a different Embassy to go to Belfast, since  it is part of the UK mission and ultimately under the authority of the Embassy in London.   And, to be picky, there is no seperate Consulate in London -- there is the Consular Section within the Embassy.

Happened to my husband with his eb1 , not same as O1 but similar in criterias .. we were not asked anything from documents we had , our case was sent back but our lawyer was contacting ombudsman and uscis every couple of days. we got our letter of intent to revoke with all points that didnt made any sense  shortly after interview I think not even 3 months because we were very active with calling uscis all the time :D we responded in a month and another two months we had approval again from uscis.. month to get to the embassy they called us to interview, didnt ask a single question as they knew the points they were trying to prove at the first time were ridicolous just asked for a passports and same day we had immigrant visas, next day we flew back as our second medical was almost expired.. whole proces from first interview, letter of intent, approval and final approval from embassy was 10 months. try to be pro active and be prepared to answer letter of intent to revoke as it may be tough one. good luck

Thanks for the info, it's good to hear a situation where the case was resolved. The only other cases I could find online seemed to be on going with no end in sight. Your advice to be pro active makes sense so I will keep trying to get through to someone at the embassy or at USCIS to speed things up if possible.

Hi I have a similar problem with same lawyer Kate Raynor.

I’m stuck in my home country right now after I got a visa interview to renew my O1visa. I still have my apartment, car and my job in the states. My visa status is still under administrative processing on CEAC after one month from the interview, not revoking processing. I am not sure if each country shows visa status differently?  How did you get the notification of revoking? According to embassy’s website, administrative processing is supposed to finish within 60days.

Hey, I think the CEAC site is the same for everyone. I was told at the end of the interview they would need to review my case in further detail, then the next day I received an email saying they were recommending to revoke my visa. Now the website just says 'Administrative Processing'. No updates yet and it's been 4 and half months since my interview. I know this waiting period can vary greatly depending on each case, some are resolved very quickly, some I've read about have gone over a year. I'm hoping I'm not the latter.

Have you checked your case status here; https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/mycasestatus.do

With this you can at least see if USCIS has received your case or not. I can see that they received my case in February, so one would hope that it wouldn't be too much longer if we know they have it.

Hopefully this has been helpful! Sorry I don't have better news, it seems once you're put in this situation you're left high and dry so all you can do it remain hopeful your case will be seen quickly.

Thanks for the info! I just checked USCIS website but my status seems like still original approved notice. How do you see your status updated as “received requested revoking” on USCIS website? I don’t think the consulate in my country notify us if they request revoking to USCIS or not. They just put us on hold as AP.

Have you thought applying GC? Since it’s not non-immigrat visa, it might be different categories and not really Visa shopping? Let me know your thought!

Did they tell you at the Embassy they were recommending to revoke your visa? I'm guessing that if the USCIS website still has the initial approval notice then they might not have received your Embassy's decision. I could be wrong though. Either way, with my case it doesn't say anywhere that my status has been revoked or even recommended to be revoked, it just says administrative processing. I only found out they were recommending to revoke my approved status through an email from the Embassy.

I guess it depends on what they told you at the interview?

What do you mean when you say 'applying GC'?

Hi,

What was the outcome of this?

Hi there,

This is still on going unfortunately! I spoke with my lawyer recently to ask if they can contact USCIS, as 180 days have passed since my case being received by USCIS we are now able to enquire as to the status of my case.

USCIS wrote back saying they will give us some information in about 3 - 4 weeks.

So until then, nothing has changed. It's taking a very long time!

Hello all,

I'm hoping someone will be able to offer some advice, I've see a few posts on various forums about this particular matter but have yet to see an answer or definitive outcome to this situation.

Some context about my case - For nearly two years I have been working on my O1 visa case with my lawyers; Kate Raynor & Associates. I have two job offers in Los Angeles waiting for me as a musician; one to join a band and the other to be an on call session guitarist to one of LA's top song writer/producers.

We submitted my case with USCIS in June 2017 to which I was asked for more evidence. I was annoyed but did as requested and gathered more evidence then re-submitted at the end of October 2017. I then received a positive outcome mid December 2017 stating my O1 visa had been approved. I booked an appointment for my interview and to send off my passport to get stamped at the US embassy in London on January 3rd 2018.

The interview didn't go as expected as I was told they would need to review my case further, the next day I received an email from the embassy with a 'notification of revocation'. The decision will now go back to USCIS who will either agree with the London embassy's recommendation to revoke my visa, or they might still think I deserve the O1 (I would think they would side with the embassy though).

The average response time from USCIS seems to be about 6-12 months, possibly longer. As anyone can understand this is pretty ridiculous as no job offer will realistically wait indefinitely for an answer, even if it is positive, especially in the music industry.

I have been given no specific reason as to why they are trying to revoke my visa other than one short line in the email saying 'The request for revocation is based on further administrative review of the applicant’s qualifications conducted subsequent to your visa interview at Embassy London.' This seems incredibly unreasonable as the interview only lasted about 5 minutes, I was asked about 5--10 questions which were somewhat vague, so I was unable to talk about 90% of the evidence that granted me the initial approval. It also appeared the consular officer who interviewed me had no previous knowledge of my case, so was basing the entirety of his decision on my answers in that moment.

Does anyone have any knowledge/experience on how to resolve this matter quickly, ideally with the visa ultimately being approved? (as it has been approved in principal in the US).

This decision will have massive long term ramifications on my life as, from now on, if I travel to any other country and they ask if I have ever been denied a visa, I will have to say yes and explain why. This will obviously count against me and will potentially impact my ability to work as, being a musician, I'm often required to travel all over the world for gigs. So the embassy's decision to refuse a visa to work in the US will now risk my ability to work anywhere else. It will also affect the band and producer who have offered me jobs as they will now have to start looking for other guitarists to fill my spot until this matter can be resolved, which again will affect their ability to work and progress.

Thanks for reading, I can give more info if needed, I didn't want to post too much straight away as that'll probably scare people off!

Jake

Hi, Jake:

I sorry to hear your story, I agreed someone here just recommended refile a new one with Premium processing, which will be much faster for you to wait an unsure case.

May I also have a question for you, how long took you to get an notification for consular processing interview in your country after your O1 petition got approved?

Thank you!!

Once your o petition is approved, you should schedule your interview online. If possible, try to find out if the case is on the pims system to avoid delays

Yes refiling with premium processing is what a lot of people in my situation have been doing as it does seem to be faster than just waiting indefinitely.

If you're talking about how long it took me to get an interview at the embassy after I was approved by USICS, not long, I was able to schedule an interview about a week after the approval.

If you're referring to how long after the interview at the embassy I was put into administrative processing, I found out the next day by email and I've been waiting ever since for an answer from USICS...

Thanks Jake, you think refiling can work? Or whatever they are screening you for just continues? What about mandamus action?
